The Marketing Coordinator is a key member of the Marketing Department, responsible for event planning, coordination, and social media management, as well as collaborating on developing engaging visual and written content to promote the organizational priorities of St. Mary’s Credit Union (SMCU). This multifaceted role provides the opportunity to use a diverse skillset including event planning, copywriting, creative social media strategy, and graphic design. Must be comfortable working in an office setting at least three days a week. Frequent evenings and weekends are required.

Essential Job Functions

Must be an organized self-starter who thrives in coordinating logistics and implementing various marketing and communications tactics as part of the overall strategic marketing plan. Must be a team player who is able to collaborate, solve problems and work well under pressure. Relationship-oriented and agile, capable of implementing marketing and communication best-practices to advance organizational priorities, professional and engaging as a representative of SMCU in the community.

  • Plan, support, lead and execute the internal and external organization and community events from start to finish, including securing materials, scheduling, coordinating participants/attendees, etc.
  • Plan and develop an integrated content strategy to be deployed across various comms channels.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment and SMCU image by maintaining courteous, respectful and effective interaction, teamwork and communication with employees and members to enhance positive behaviors and employee satisfaction.
  • Collect and cull information to disseminate to various internal and external stakeholders via newsletters and social media.
  • Determine appropriate platforms and media for each type of message, adapting content to suit different channels (e.g., newsletters, email, video, etc.).
  • Monitor and respond to customer inquiries on social media outlets daily through community management, fan engagement, and content moderation on current social networks. Provide insight as needed to the marketing and customer care teams.
  • Monitor the social media activity of competitors and their audiences and identify relevant trends across social media.
  • Build a brand following via the company’s social media outlets, moderate conversations; stimulate follower interaction, discussion and engagement.
  • Measure ROI on the various channels and provide recommendations for further development or canceling various channels.
  • Create and edit content for newsletters, blogs, social media, and other marketing materials as assigned.
  • Draft and edit high-quality communications that are clear, concise, and aligned with brand voice and goals.
  • Work with internal and external teams or create relevant content, videos, and other multimedia content as needed.
  • Provide basic graphic design support to the team.
  • Assist in managing relationships with vendors and sub-contractors when appropriate.
  • Represent the organization at public events and outreach opportunities.
  • Coordinate community, branch, marketing, and corporate events with all business lines.
  • Promote SMCU’s contributions and community participation by organizing photo opportunities and placement of press releases.
  • Administer community advertising programs including program, yearbook, and event ad placements
  • Other marketing and communication related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience in marketing, content development, project management, event planning, and basic graphic design required
  • Qualified candidates must be self-starters that are detail-oriented, flexible, and comfortable in an active, locally-engaged, constantly changing environment.
  • Candidates must have the ability to think quickly and creatively. A strong sense of cooperation and strong communication skills are necessary.
Computer and Equipment Skills
  • Ability to use standard software to complete assigned tasks, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Hootsuite, Constant Contact, and other additional platforms as needed.
  • Event planning experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication for use across a variety of platforms.
  • Understanding of social media platforms, social media marketing strategies, and best practices and trends.
  • Experience in content development for a variety of platforms.
  • Moderate graphic design experience preferred.
  • Highly refined interpersonal skills and the capability to maintain effective working, relationships with other team members, community partners, public officials, private donors, and the public.
  • Agile communicator who can respond and adjust as needed to address time-sensitive or crisis situations.
  • Awareness or familiarity with public-private partnerships is desired.
  • Must be highly motivated with the ability to organize multiple deadlines and objectives to meet determined outcomes.
