Role Overview

The Marketing and Events Coordinator is an entry‑level role on Freedom Communities' Advancement Team, supporting the organization's marketing, communications, and donor engagement efforts. This position blends day‑to‑day content creation and digital marketing support with hands‑on coordination of donor events, helping FC build visibility, tell the story of its impact, and strengthen relationships with donors and the community.

The ideal candidate is a creative, detail‑oriented self‑starter who is equally comfortable drafting a social media post and setting up for a donor event.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications:

  • Support the creation and scheduling of content across FC's social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), averaging 3–4 posts per week, with slight changes in content to optimize it for the platform.
  • Help monitor engagement, follower growth, and basic performance metrics, and assist in compiling regular reports.
  • Create graphics, photos, and short videos to support FC's programs and campaigns, primarily using Canva.
  • Serve as an ad hoc photographer at FC events and programs, documenting activities and organizing a digital photo library for use in marketing materials.
  • Support the development of newsletters, blog posts, and donor/community email campaigns.
  • Help maintain and update content on the FC website.
  • Coordinate with outside printing vendors to produce marketing materials as needed.

Event Support:

  • Provide planning and on‑site support for 5-7 small‑to‑medium‑sized donor events per year (e.g., donor cultivation gatherings, appreciation events, community events, program graduations).
  • Assist with event logistics, including venue coordination, vendor communication, supply ordering, and invitation/RSVP tracking.
  • Prepare event materials such as signage, name tags, programs, and donor recognition items.
  • Support day‑of event logistics, including setup, registration/check‑in, and breakdown.
  • Help track event budgets and compile post‑event summaries.
  • Support donor follow‑up after events, such as thank‑you notes and surveys.

Team Engagement:

  • Participate in bi‑weekly FC staff meetings and weekly 1:1s with a manager.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and staff training opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with FC staff to plan and execute events and activities aligned with organizational goals.
  • Contribute to organizational learning by sharing insights and tracking data and trends to inform FC’s broader strategy and impact.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in marketing, communications, events, or a related field.
  • Experience with social media management and graphic design tools such as Canva.
  • Comfort with, or willingness to learn, donor database software such as Bloomerang, and website software such as Squarespace or Wix.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
