Job description

At AEG, we're building something bigger than great eye care, we're creating careers, developing leaders, and making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.

You'll join a team that:

  • Invests in leadership development and internal growth.
  • Believes people and performance go hand in hand.
  • Values collaboration, authenticity, and continuous learning.
  • Celebrates wins, supports challenges, and grows together.
  • Gives leaders the autonomy to make an impact while providing the support they need to succeed.

About the Role

At AEG, we believe great patient experiences begin with great teams. As a Market Manager, you'll inspire and support leaders across multiple practices, helping them develop their teams, deliver exceptional patient care, and achieve meaningful business results.

The Market Manager will create an environment where people feel seen, supported, challenged, and celebrated. We believe accountability and compassion go hand in hand, and our leaders are expected to develop people as intentionally as they drive results.

The Market Manager leads through Practice Managers, Optometrists, field leadership, and cross-functional partners to identify performance gaps, develop leaders, support patient care, and drive sustainable business results.

This role operates similarly to a District Manager but with a smaller practice scope, providing the Market Manager with the opportunity to build multi-unit leadership capability through hands‑on coaching, practice visits, business reviews, talent development, and execution of company priorities. The Market Manager improves operational execution, strengthens leadership capability, and develops market‑level strategies that align with district priorities while enhancing business performance and supporting providers, patient care, and talent needs.

The Market Manager role is often a developmental multi‑unit leadership role for high‑performing Practice Managers preparing for broader field leadership responsibility. It may also serve as an entry point for external multi‑unit leaders who need to learn AEG Vision’s optical structure, systems, acquisition process, practice model, reporting tools, and field leadership expectations.

  • Strengthen leadership capability across the market by identifying and developing emerging talent, supporting succession planning, and preparing leaders for expanded responsibilities and internal growth opportunities.
  • Support strategy to attract, retain, and develop talent, building strong team pipelines that support practice performance, leadership growth, and long‑term staffing needs to ensure exceptional patient experience.
  • Develop high‑performing, engaged teams by promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and a growth mindset.
  • Create consistent, patient‑centered experiences by coaching practice leaders on service behaviors, care expectations, and team engagement routines.
  • Lead regular practice visits to evaluate business performance, patient experience, team engagement and leadership effectiveness while coaching practice leaders on opportunities to strengthen results and accountability.
  • Lead and support the performance of assigned practices by translating company and regional priorities into clear market‑level action plans.
  • Analyze key performance indicators(KPI), including sales, revenue, conversion, continuity of care, labor, productivity, patient experience, staffing, and other operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead market execution of company initiatives, training launches, operational changes, technology updates, acquisition integrations, and market expansion efforts while supporting adoption and long‑term sustainability of expected behaviors.
  • Partner with practice and market leadership to elevate and support provider alignment, continuity of care, patient experience, and overall practice performance.
  • Support market growth, new practice openings, acquisitions, integrations, or expansion efforts as assigned.
  • Ensure assigned practices follow company policies, compliance expectations, operational standards, inventory controls, discounting guidelines, and loss prevention procedures.
  • Identify business barriers, operational risks, talent gaps, service gaps, and compliance issues, and provide field insights and recommended solutions to leadership that will improve execution across the business.
  • Champion market‑wide change initiatives to promote and improve operational performance, team engagement, and business results.
  • Manage market performance related to sales, profitability, labor, controllable expenses, inventory controls, discounting practices, loss prevention, and operational compliance.
  • Support additional operations projects, district initiatives, or regional priorities as assigned.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of multi‑unit leadership experience in optical, healthcare, retail, hospitality, or comparable service/operations leadership experience required. Prior Practice Manager optical leadership preferred.
  • College degree is preferred; equivalent optical leadership experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop team members, or emerging leaders.
  • Strong understanding of optical operations, patient care, practice flow, sales/service behaviors, and business performance drivers.
  • Ability to analyze reports, identify trends, connect data to behavior, and create practical action plans.
  • Strong communication, coaching, observation, and follow‑up skills.
  • Ability to lead through influence, build trust, and support change across multiple practice teams.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across locations.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, use sound judgment, and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Ability to partner effectively with field leaders and support teams.
  • Ability to travel regularly within assigned market, typically 50–75% of the time.
