Job summary

Bayer is seeking a Market Development Representative to act as the technical expert within the commercial organization. You will partner across R&D, Marketing, and Sales to execute go-to-market strategies for vegetable crop technology, and work with external influencers and customers to drive adoption.

The role covers East Florida and aims to meet regional sales targets. You will trial late-stage varieties, build territory plans with Sales and R&D, and use data to position products and share

Qualifications

  • Must have strong agronomic knowledge of vegetable crop production and the ability to translate data into practical solutions for growers.
  • Established customer focus and sales orientation with ability to perform in a fast-paced team-based environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; English proficiency targeted at 50%+ in written/verbal communication.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the territory and occasional national travel.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a driving record check.

Responsibilities

  • Be the technical expert within the commercial organization, partnering across R&D, Marketing, and Sales to develop go-to-market strategies and drive adoption of technologies and products.
  • Take ownership of trialing and activities for late-stage varieties and market extensions in local territories; build and execute territory plans with Sales and R&D.
  • Use strategic trialing and data to position products, defend market share, and support R&D knowledge transfer into Market Development.
  • Integrate testing data and use digital data collection to communicate product positioning to stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support to the sales/marketing teams, including handling complaints, reviewing materials, and training on product positioning.
  • Leverage networks to access market opportunities and influence cross-functional decisions; lead crop segments regionally.
  • Provide agronomic recommendations to enhance product performance across varied environments and help hit regional targets.

Market Development Representative
Bayer Vegetable Seed Business:

As the technical expert within the commercial organization, you will partner internally across functions such as R&D, Marketing, and Sales to develop and execute go-to-market strategies. You will collaborate externally with key influencers and customers to drive the adoption of technology and our products. You will share responsibility with Sales to achieve or exceed established regional and territory sales targets. Your technical expertise will demonstrate the value of our full portfolio and technical solutions to our partners and customers.

This role will cover East Florida.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be the technical expert within the commercial organization, partnering across functions (R&D, Marketing, Sales, etc.) to develop and execute go-to-market strategies and drive adoption of technologies and products;
  • Take complete ownership of trialing and activities for late-stage varieties and market extensions in local territories, partnering with Sales and R&D to build and execute territory plans for all trialing and demand generation activities;
  • Use strategic trialing and robust data to position products effectively, defend and grow market share, and support early R&D pipeline knowledge transfer into Market Development;
  • Integrate all testing and experiential data and use digital data collection methods to communicate product positioning and performance in real time to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Provide technical support to the commercial organization, including handling complaints, reviewing communications and marketing materials, supporting pricing exercises, and training Sales and Marketing on positioning of base, new, and market extension varieties;
  • Leverage internal and external networks to access market opportunities, trends, and technical information, influencing cross-functional decisions, driving portfolio decisions and pipeline advancements, and providing leadership of specific crop segments across the region;
  • Provide practical agronomic recommendations to enhance product performance under varied production environments and share responsibility with Sales to achieve or exceed established regional and territory sales targets.
WHO YOU ARE:

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science;
  • Strong agronomic knowledge of vegetable crop production and the ability to convert data into practical knowledge and solutions for growers;
  • Demonstrated strong customer focus and sales orientation, with the ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based environment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (minimum 50% English written/verbal);
  • Self-motivated and assertive with strong results orientation;
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the territory, with occasional national travel;
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working across regional markets in protected crops, processing, and open field crops;
  • Bachelor of Science with 5 years of experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or an R&D-related role, or a Master of Science with 3 years, or a PhD with 1 year of relevant experience in Plant Sciences or Agribusiness (agronomy, plant pathology, weed sciences, or closely related discipline).

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $92,880.00- $139,320.00 .Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
