Job summary

The Madison Club in La Quinta, CA is seeking a Market Cook to prepare, cook, and present high-quality menu items in a fast-paced kitchen. This full-time seasonal role runs October through June, with duties spanning setup, cooking, plating, and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities include stocking stations, executing orders accurately, and collaborating with expeditors and lead cooks to ensure excellent service and quality for members and guests.

Qualifications

• Experience in line/pizza/prep cook roles preferred.
• Knowledge of pizza prep, baking techniques, and food preparation methods.
• Food Handler Certification required within 7 days of hire.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Understanding food safety, sanitation, and ServSafe practices.

• Execute orders from the ticket rail or kitchen display system (KDS) accurately and on time.
• Maintain cleanliness of the station, utensils, and work areas; comply with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Monitor quality of ingredients and finished products; report shortages or issues.
• Collaborate with expeditors, lead cooks, and other station staff to ensure timely service.

The Market Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality menu items in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining food safety, quality, and operational standards. This role ensures stations are fully stocked and prepared for service, executes orders accurately and efficiently, supports inventory management, and assists in training kitchen staff. The Market Cook works closely with other kitchen team members to deliver exceptional food and service.

The Madison Club is open during the winter & spring season, and this role will be for a full time, seasonal need from October- June.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and stock stations before service with ingredients, tools, and supplies
• Prepare food by cutting, chopping, mixing, and making sauces or dressings

• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $23 - $25 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
