Job summary

St. Michael's is seeking an experienced Maritime Systems Engineer to support SOF AT&L PEO-M. The role involves engineering support across the acquisition lifecycle for crewed/uncrewed maritime platforms and mission systems.

You will work with Government engineers, program managers, and contractors to assess designs, manage risks, support testing and certification, and transition capabilities to operational use. On-site at MacDill AFB in Tampa with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field is required.
  • Minimum of ten years of systems engineering or systems integration experience.
  • Hands-on maritime or Naval engineering experience is required.
  • Experience supporting Navy or commercial maritime design, certification and testing processes.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering and integration support throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Evaluate programs, designs, specifications, and technical approaches.
  • Develop test requirements, objectives, and plans.

Are you an experienced Systems Engineer with hands-on maritime engineering experience supporting U.S. Navy, submarine, submersible, surface vessel, or related maritime systems? Do you have experience supporting complex Department of Defense acquisition programs from design and development through testing, certification, production, and sustainment? If so, we invite you to join our team supporting U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (SOF AT&L), Program Executive Office for Maritime (PEO-M).

ABOUT THIS ROLE

St. Michael's is seeking an experienced Maritime Systems Engineer to support SOF AT&L PEO-M. PEO-M develops, fields, and sustains SOF-unique maritime capabilities, including crewed and uncrewed surface and undersea platforms, combat diving systems, and specialized mission equipment. In this role, you will provide senior-level engineering support throughout the acquisition lifecycle, working with Government engineers, program managers, contractors, budget personnel, and operational stakeholders to evaluate designs, assess engineering risks, support testing and certification, review engineering changes, and help transition maritime capabilities into operational use.

WHO YOU ARE
Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility required.
Certification
  • DAWIA Practitioner equivalency (formerly DAWIA Level II) in Engineering, Program Management, or Science & Technology (S&T), or the ability to attain the required certification within six (6) months of hire with an approved deferral.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of systems engineering or systems integration experience supporting acquisition programs.
  • Hands-on maritime or Naval engineering experience is required.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy or commercial submarine, submersible, Naval ship, surface vessel, or comparablemaritime system design, construction, certification, and testing processes.
  • Experience supporting undersea, surface vessel, maritime mobility, or maritime mission systems.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and interpreting engineering design concepts and technical drawings.
  • Experience working with computer-aided design or graphical interface systems.
  • Experience developing test requirements, test objectives, and test plans.
  • Experience supporting system testing, certification, qualification, or acceptance activities.
  • Experience evaluating emerging scientific, environmental, or engineering technologies for incorporation into systemplanning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, or modernization.
  • Experience supporting engineering program planning, acquisition activities, budget cycles, and financial controlprocesses.
  • Experience reviewing engineering change proposals, waivers, deviations, nonconforming materials, technicalspecifications, cost estimates, schedules, and engineering studies.
  • Experience supporting engineering activities throughout design, development, production, testing, fielding, andsustainment.
Preferred Experience
  • Master's degree in an Engineering field with at least eight (8) years of systems engineering or systems integrationexperience supporting acquisition programs.
  • Experience supporting SOF maritime programs or Naval Special Warfare capabilities.
  • Knowledge of SOF-unique acquisition processes.
  • Experience supporting combat diving systems or specialized SOF maritime mission equipment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide systems engineering and systems integration support throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Evaluate engineering programs, development plans, designs, specifications, and technical approaches.
  • Support planning and approval of engineering projects in coordination with program managers, engineeringauthorities, and budget personnel.
  • Develop technical inputs for leadership briefings addressing program status, engineering challenges, risks, and recommended resolutions.
  • Support technical evaluations and market research activities.
  • Review engineering designs, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, andengineering studies.
  • Review engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
  • Support contract modifications and provide technical recommendations related to engineering changes.
  • Develop and evaluate test requirements, objectives, plans, and engineering performance measures.
  • Support Government surveillance of design, development, testing, and production activities.
  • Analyze engineering performance indicators and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Document lessons learned and support continuous improvement of engineering processes.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across Government, contractor, and operational organizations.
