Job summary

State of Louisiana DOTD seeks a Ferryboat Operator to manage engine room operations and vessel machinery aboard an inspected ferry on the Mississippi River or Calcasieu Ship Channel. Duties depend on the license held and include routine maintenance, testing, and signaling.

Two years of marine operations experience plus AB or QMED credentials are required; TWIC may be required at appointment. Appointment types include Probational or Promotional; salary ranges and premium pay are published; apply

Qualifications

• Two years of marine operations experience.
• U.S. Coast Guard credential (AB or QMED) required or as specified in the job announcement.
• TWIC card may be required at appointment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain engine room and vessel machinery aboard an inspected marine vessel.
• Perform routine tests and inspections; coordinate with Coast Guard and safety officers.
• Maintain logs and reports of engineering operations and maintenance.
