Job summary

UniversalAGI, Inc. seeks a Maritime Hydrodynamics CFD Engineer to join our SF team and help build foundation AI models for physics simulation. You’ll design, mesh, and simulate hulls, create scalable data pipelines, and work closely with the CEO and AI team to address real-world naval engineering challenges.

You’ll drive benchmark datasets, collaborate with clients, and push the boundaries of CFD and ML integrations in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in hydrodynamics CFD simulation in maritime industries.
• Expert in solver frameworks (STAR-CCM+, FINE/Marine, OpenFOAM, ORCA, or similar).
• Deep understanding of ship hydrodynamics, hull form design, free surface flows, meshing strategies, boundary conditions, and numerical methods.
• Strong communication skills bridging customers, engineering and research teams.
• Ability to deliver with speed in a high-intensity startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, preprocess, mesh, simulate, and post-process hydrodynamics for maritime hulls at scale and speed.
• Develop data pipelines by designing, meshing, and simulating hundreds or thousands of hull geometries.
• Guide product and AI model development by addressing research problems with the AI team.
• Collaborate directly with clients to define benchmarks, datasets, validation criteria, and workflows.
• Generate high-quality simulation data that feeds foundation models.
• Advise AI research on free surface modeling, wave dynamics, and propulsion interactions.
• Lead technical customer conversations translating CFD to AI concepts.
