Job summary

Kaufman Dolowich LLP in New Jersey seeks attorneys with Admiralty and Maritime law experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be admitted in NY/NJ and bring at least one year of defense litigation experience, preferably in maritime and transportation law, with strong writing and advocacy skills.

The role offers meaningful responsibility from day one, direct client exposure, mentorship, and broad opportunities for professional growth across offices and practice groups.

Qualifications

• Admission to practice law in New York and New Jersey required.
• 1+ years of defense litigation experience; maritime law and transportation law experience preferred.
• Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and eager to assume increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
• Draft and respond to written discovery
• Take and defend depositions
• Prepare, draft, and argue motions
• Participate in court appearances, status conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and other litigation proceedings
• Develop case strategy and manage day‑to‑day litigation responsibilities
• Communicate directly with clients, providing strategic counsel and regular case updates
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices and practice groups on complex and challenging matters
• Assist with trial preparation and other high‑stakes litigation activities
