IDEX Consulting Ltd represents an established US & UK marine MGA seeking a Brown Water Marine Underwriter/Program Leader to build the US chapter and own the growth trajectory.

You’ll work with an existing platform, deepen broker relationships, and shape the long-term marine strategy while maintaining close underwriting oversight and portfolio development.

US Ocean Marine / Brown Water Marine Underwriting Leader opportunity joining an established US & UK MGA who already understand and have success in the european marine insurance space.

Our client already operates a successful commercial marine underwriting business across the UK and Europe and has an established logistics programme in the United States. Marine is not a new idea. It's not a speculative launch. It's an area where they already understand the market, the distribution and the opportunity.

About the Role

Now they’re looking for an experienced Brown Water Marine Underwriter or Program Leader to build the next chapter of the business in the US. The question is... You’ve built profitable marine portfolios. You’ve developed wholesale and retail broker relationships. You’ve helped create value for someone else’s business. When do you start building one for yourself?

Responsibilities

• Join an established MGA platform with the infrastructure, operational support and leadership team already in place, whilst having the autonomy to develop and grow a specialist Brown Water Marine portfolio.
• This is not a corporate management role. You’ll remain close to the underwriting. Close to the brokers. Close to the portfolio.
• The successful individual will be expected to build profitable premium whilst helping shape the long- term direction of the marine business.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of marine underwriting experience
• Existing MGA experience preferred
• Strong wholesale and retail broker relationships
• A track record of profitable growth
• Experience within Brown Water Marine business
• A detailed understanding of your portfolio performance and historical loss ratios
• The ambition to build something meaningful

Pay range and compensation package

On offer is a highly competitive package including salary up to $300,000, bonus, profit share and meaningful equity participation. The expectation is to build a significant marine portfolio over the coming years, supported by an established platform with ambitious but realistic growth plans.
