Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group in Houston, TX is seeking an Underwriting Associate for its Marine team. This full‑time, non‑exempt role offers a hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

The UA will support underwriting workflows, assist with new business and renewals, and coordinate with Billing, Premium Audit, Claims, and agencies to ensure quality service. Ideal candidates hold an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience with 1–2+ years in Commercial Lines or Specialty

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 1-2+ years of Commercial Lines/Specialty insurance experience.
• Fundamental underwriting practices and workflows knowledge.
• Solid business acumen and product knowledge.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Support the Underwriter in new business and renewal activities.
• Prepare accounts: data collection, analysis, file documentation.
• Assist in quoting and issuance cycle.
• Update statuses in the work management system throughout policy cycles.
• Document new and renewal accounts using underwriting tools and external data.
