Job summary

Anchor Innovation, Inc. is seeking an experienced Marine Systems Technician to support a small boat maintenance program at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, California. This is a full-time, on-site waterfront position.

The role involves hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, repowering, and outfitting of small boats and marine systems, with a focus on diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government CAC
• Valid Driver's License
• Minimum five years of recent, hands-on marine maintenance experience with limited or no direct supervision
• Extensive experience maintaining and repairing major marine outboard and/or diesel engines
• Manufacturer certification or factory training applicable to at least one supported marine propulsion system
• Experience building, repowering, modifying, or outfitting small boats for operational service
• Experience maintaining and repairing small boat hulls and ancillary equipment
• Working knowledge of basic marine wiring and electrical distribution systems
• Experience coordinating with marine OEMs for technical support, upgrades, replacement components, and repairs
• Experience launching and recovering small boats
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and diagnose marine mechanical and electrical problems
• Ability to work in waterfront, maintenance, shop, and outdoor environments
• Ability to safely use standard marine maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, repowering, and outfitting of small boats and marine systems.
• Independently diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hull, and ancillary-system issues with limited supervision.
• Perform regular maintenance and inspections to ensure vessel readiness.
• Coordinate with OEMs for technical support and spare parts.
• Maintain maintenance documentation and records.
• Support waterfront operations including launch and recovery.

About This Opportunity

Anchor Innovation, Inc. is seeking an experienced Marine Systems Technician to support an established small boat maintenance program at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, California.

This is a full-time, on-site waterfront position supporting the maintenance and readiness of a fleet of more than 80 small boats. The position follows a consistent Monday–Friday, 0700–1500 schedule, 40 hours per week.

The Marine Systems Technician performs hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, repowering, and outfitting of small boats and associated marine systems. The ideal candidate is an experienced marine technician capable of independently diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hull, and ancillary-system issues with limited supervision.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Common Access Card (CAC)
• Valid Driver's License
• Minimum five years of recent, hands-on marine maintenance experience performing at a high level with limited or no direct supervision
• Extensive experience maintaining and repairing major marine outboard and/or diesel engines
• Experience with one or more of the following manufacturers:
  • Yamaha
  • Honda
  • Mercury
  • Evinrude/Johnson
  • Cummins
• Manufacturer certification or factory training applicable to at least one supported marine propulsion system
• Experience building, repowering, modifying, or outfitting small boats for operational service
• Experience maintaining and repairing small boat hulls and ancillary equipment
• Working knowledge of basic marine wiring and electrical distribution systems
• Experience coordinating with marine OEMs for technical support, upgrades, replacement components, and repairs
• Experience launching and recovering small boats
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and diagnose marine mechanical and electrical problems
• Ability to work in waterfront, maintenance, shop, and outdoor environments
• Ability to safely use standard marine maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Multiple marine OEM certifications or factory training
• Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, or Cummins factory certifications
• Experience maintaining military, government, law-enforcement, commercial, or other high-use small craft
• Experience with RHIBs/RIBs, patrol craft, or similar operational small boats
• Experience troubleshooting 12V/24V marine electrical systems
• Experience with electronic engine-management and OEM diagnostic systems
• Experience performing major engine replacements and vessel repowers
• Experience working directly with OEM technical representatives and parts/service organizations
• Prior U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, or other government small-boat maintenance experience
