Quest Energy Group is recruiting experienced Ship Fitters / Plate Fitters for a shipyard in Galveston supporting vessel and offshore rig refit, repair, and modification projects. These opportunities offer long-term work, with both direct-hire and contract assignments available.

We're looking for skilled craftspeople who can read structural drawings, lay out material, and fit steel plate and structural components for installation and welding.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Ship Fitter, Plate Fitter, or Structural Fitter is required.
• Hands-on experience fitting steel plate and structural components in marine environments preferred.
• Ability to read structural drawings and take accurate field measurements.
• Familiarity with fit-up, alignment, and fabrication tolerances.
• Vessel or offshore rig repair experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work in an active shipyard and coordinate with a crew.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, measure, mark, cut, and fit steel plate and structural members using drawings and field measurements.
• Support repair, replacement, and modification of hull sections, decks, bulkheads, foundations, stiffeners, and other structures.
• Read and interpret structural fabrication drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Prepare edges and fit-up surfaces, align components, and verify dimensions before welding.
• Use cutting, grinding, fitting, and tack-welding equipment within procedures.
• Work with welders, supervisors, and other trades to complete work safely and accurately.
• Follow shipyard safety requirements and hot-work, confined-space, and fall-protection rules.
