Job summary

AMS is seeking experienced pipe welders for shipbuilding and ship-repair along the Houma marine corridor in Louisiana. You will weld marine pipe systems in all positions (including 6G) to ABS, AWS, and ASME code, reading isometrics and fitting spools before welding.

Responsibilities include hydro and X-ray testing on joints, with opportunities to work in the Houma shipyard market alongside AMS pipefitters. Requirements include a 6G carbon-steel TIG root test with flux-core cap and fill, 5+ years

Qualifications

• 5+ years of shipyard or marine pipe-welding experience.
• Pass AMS weld test: 6G carbon-steel TIG root with flux-core cap and fill.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Valid TWIC card, or ability to obtain one for yard access.
• Able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

• Weld marine pipe systems in all positions, including 6G, to ABS, AWS, and ASME code.
• Run TIG root and stick fill/cap on carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, and copper-nickel.
• Read isometric drawings and fit spools before laying in the weld.
• Pass hydro and X-ray testing on completed joints.
• Work the Houma / Houma Navigation Canal shipbuilding market alongside AMS pipefitters.
