LEAD Staffing in Hampton Roads, Norfolk, seeks a Marine Pipe Systems Mechanic to layout, cut, fit, and install piping for high/low pressure and hydraulic systems aboard vessels.

You will read isometrics and P&IDs, fabricate spools, install valves and flanges, conduct hydrostatic tests, document results, and coordinate with welders and electricians while following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of pipefitting experience; shipyard/marine background preferred.
• Hands-on skill with cutting, threading, and fitting tools.
• Fluency in blueprint reading, including isometric drawings.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Able to support overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as needed.

Responsibilities

• Layout, cut, fit, and install piping for high/low pressure and hydraulic systems aboard vessels.
• Fabricate pipe spools and supports from blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Install valves, fittings, flanges, and associated components.
• Conduct hydrostatic and leak testing; document outcomes.
• Read and interpret isometrics, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
• Sequence work with adjacent trades for smooth installations.
• Maintain accurate material usage and completion records.
• Apply shipyard safety procedures and quality standards at all times.

Marine Pipe Systems MechanicLEAD Staffing | Hampton Roads, VALocation: NorfolkSchedule: Full-Time | Contract | 40 hours per week (Overtime as required)A day in this roleYou step aboard a naval or commercial vessel in the Norfolk shipyard just after sunrise. With drawings in hand, you map routes for high- and low-pressure lines, mark your cuts, and begin fitting spools and supports. By midday, valves and flanges are aligned to spec, and by afternoon you’re pressure-testing the system, logging results, and coordinating with welders and electricians so the next trade can move in.
