Located in Bellingham, WA, AAM specializes in designing and building advanced, fuel‑efficient boats for commercial, research, and passenger transportation.
As a Marine Paint/Coatings Technician, you will engage in a variety of tasks daily. Your responsibilities include preparing surfaces for painting, applying coatings in accordance with established protocols, and ensuring quality control throughout the process. You will work closely with experienced team members to learn best practices in marine coatings and always adhere to safety regulations.
Your schedule will typically be from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with adjustments to a swing shift depending on project needs. Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to adjust to irregular shift times or work weekends to meet deadlines. You'll gain valuable hands‑on experience while becoming part of a dedicated team committed to excellence in marine craftsmanship.
To be successful, you need a blend of technical skills and a collaborative mindset. Preferred experience in prepping and painting boats or automotive surfaces is essential. You should have a basic understanding of nautical vessel terminology. Knowledge of mixing epoxies and polyurethanes is required. Proficiency in detailed masking, hand sanding, and operating orbital sanders is crucial. Understanding of sandblasting processes to maintain a uniform blast profile is necessary. You must know how to ventilate enclosed spaces for epoxy applications safely and adhere to respirator usage and cartridge requirements. You are expected to maintain and clean spray equipment, uphold a tidy work environment, and demonstrate strong time management skills. Good people skills are essential to work effectively within our team‑oriented culture.
Level 2: $24 – $32 per hour + full benefits.
