Job summary

OneWater Marine in New Jersey is seeking a Marine Master Yamaha/Mercury Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of marine engines, electrical systems, and onboard equipment. You will lead and mentor apprentices and ensure work meets safety and manufacturer specs.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of marine repair experience with Master certifications from Yamaha, Mercury, or Volvo, strong diagnostic skills, and proficiency with marine diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; marine trade training preferred.
• 5+ years in marine repair with Master certification from Yamaha, Mercury or Volvo.
• Advanced knowledge of outboard engines and diagnostic tools.
• Strong diagnostic, problem-solving and leadership abilities.
• Valid driver's license; boating license/certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair inboard/outboard engines and propulsion systems.
• Perform routine maintenance including tune-ups, oil changes, and inspections.
• Repair and maintain electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems.
• Install and test marine equipment such as navigation systems and radios.
• Interpret manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data.
• Lead and mentor apprentice technicians.
• Stay current with new marine technologies and safety regulations.
• Communicate repairs, timelines, and costs to customers and document work.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair inboard and outboard engines, sterndrives, and propulsion systems
• Perform routine maintenance, including tune-ups, oil changes, and system inspections
• Repair and maintain electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems
• Install and test marine equipment such as navigation systems, radios, and accessories
• Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data
• Lead and mentor apprentice technicians, providing training and technical guidance
• Stay current with new marine technologies, tolls and repair techniques and ensure all work complies with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding repairs, timelines, and costs and maintain accurate service records and documentation.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in marine mechanics preferred
• 5+ years of experience in marine repair or a related field with Master certification from Yamaha, Mercury, or Volvo.
• Advanced knowledge of outboard marine engines.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with marine diagnostic tools and software
• Valid driver’s license: boating license/certification is a plus
