Job summary

Arc Boat Company seeks an Industrial Marine Electrician to build and wire electrical systems for commercial vessels at our Los Angeles headquarters. You will install battery strings, propulsion, charging, and vessel controls, and fabricate panels and harnesses.

You will read schematics, work from wiring diagrams, and ensure safety standards in a fast-paced, hands-on role that travels to partner yards and customer sites. A journeyman background plus marine experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as industrial, marine, or commercial electrician or apprenticeship plus journeyman-level experience.
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage systems; DC experience preferred.
• Fluent reading of electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
• Proficient with hand and power tools, hydraulic crimpers, torque tools, meggers, and multimeters.
• Knowledge of electrical safety: LOTO, arc flash, NFPA 70E.
• Active role requiring physical activity and standing for most shifts.
• Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs; travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission high- and low-voltage electrical systems on commercial vessels, including battery strings, power distribution, propulsion, charging, and controls.
• Build and wire control panels, switchgear, junction boxes, and shore power infrastructure.
• Fabricate and install harnesses, conduit, cable tray, hangers, and penetrations.
• Follow electrical schematics and diagrams; suggest build improvements over time.
• Perform continuity, insulation resistance, HiPot, and functional checks; support sea trials.
• Troubleshoot at component level with meters and scopes.
• Collaborate with Build Engineering to create repeatable work instructions.
• Lead safety for energized work (LOTO, arc flash, PPE).
• Travel to partner shipyards and customer sites for installation and field service.

Who we’re looking for

As an Industrial Marine Electrician on Arc's Commercial Build team, you'll be hands-on building the electrical systems that bring our commercial vessels to life — from switchboards through shipboard integration. You'll pull and terminate high-voltage cable, build and install panels and harnesses, wire propulsion and charging systems, and figure out what's actually wrong when the boat doesn't behave the way the drawing says it should.

This is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters.

What You'll Do

• Installing and commissioning high- and low-voltage electrical systems on commercial vessels, including battery strings, power distribution, propulsion, charging, and vessel controls
• Building and wiring control panels, switchgear, junction boxes, and shore power and charging infrastructure
• Fabricating and installing harnesses, conduit, cable tray, hangers, and penetrations
• Working from electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and interconnect drawings — and suggesting improvements over time
• Performing continuity, insulation resistance, HiPot, and functional checks, and supporting commissioning, dock trials, and sea trials
• Troubleshooting to the component level with a multimeter, clamp meter, and scope
• Partnering with Build Engineering to turn one-off installs into repeatable work instructions, and flagging designs that are hard to build before they're locked
• Serving as a safety leader for energized work, including LOTO, arc flash boundaries, and PPE discipline
• Traveling to partner shipyards and customer sites to support installation, commissioning, and field service

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an industrial, marine, or commercial electrician, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship plus journeyman-level experience
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage systems. DC system experience preferred.
• Fluent reading and working from electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, hydraulic crimpers, calibrated torque tools, meggers, and multimeters
• Working knowledge of electrical safety practice, including LOTO, arc flash, and NFPA 70E
• This is an active role that will require consistent physical activity and standing for a majority of the shift
• ability to work with ambiguity and be a self starter
• Ability to lift, push, pull 50 lbs
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
• This position requires access to information controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be a 'U.S. person' as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62) — i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual (asylee or refugee).

Bonus Qualifications

• California General Electrician certification, a journeyman card, or equivalent state licensure
• Marine electrical experience and familiarity with IEEE 45, 46 CFR, or ABS and class society requirements
• Experience on tugs, ferries, workboats, or naval vessels
• Experience with UL 508A control panel build
• Experience in a low-volume, high-mix, or first-article build environment where the process was still being developed
• Experience mentoring apprentices or junior techniciansComfortable pushing at a fast but sustainable pace
• Enthusiasm for boating and the water
