Job summary

Walashek Industrial & Marine Inc. is seeking an estimator/planner to prepare cost estimates and competitive quotations for maritime ship repair and industrial projects.

You will determine procedures, crew, tooling, and subcontractors to achieve competitive pricing while maintaining margins. Responsibilities include coordinating with internal staff, performing site checks, obtaining BOM quotes, and maintaining the contract pipeline under senior guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical training preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience in estimating and planning.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates for product manufacturing, projects, or services to aid management in bidding.
• Prepare competitive fixed-price quotations for maritime ship repair/refit and industrial repair/refit.
• Determine work procedures, crew size, machines/tooling, sub-contractors, material, accessories required to accomplish work at competitive price and acceptable margins.
• Coordinate with Walashek staff and trades as needed to gather information and process requirements for accomplishment of work.
• Conduct ship-checks/site-checks to properly scope work.
• Obtain BOM quotations in a timely manner.
• Maintain relationships with industry suppliers, vendors, and clients.
• Maintain and update contract pipeline in coordination with General Manager, Program Managers and Chief Estimator.
• Build estimates and quotes using approved corporate policies.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical manuals to machine parts and products to specifications.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team player and able to work under deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to company values and safety program.
• Operate Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project.
• Gain access to government and site office drawings and tech manuals for estimating and bidding.
