Job summary

Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is seeking a Construction & Maintenance Lead (in-training) to join the Marine Crew. The role requires leading marine construction and maintenance projects, overseeing staff, and coordinating state-wide activities for vessels and waterfront facilities.

Position involves travel to parks, four 10-hour days, and schedules that may include early starts from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with in-training pathways to higher level roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years in vessel operations, marine construction, building or repair work.
• Valid driver's license (unrestricted).
• First Aid & CPR certification within 12 months of employment.
• Washington State Boaters Card within 12 months of employment.
• Two years leading or directing a crew on projects.
• Two years reading blueprints and estimating materials.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a lead on marine construction, maintenance, and operational projects.
• May lead and direct two or more employees and direct work on projects.
• Oversee and mentor staff statewide on project level basis for marine infrastructure maintenance and construction.
• Lead and develop work methods and procedures for projects.
• Complete preventative and deferred maintenance projects.
• Operate and maintain vessels and related equipment to support park operations.
