Job summary

Monster Xtracts, a Michigan-based cannabis company and subsidiary of Common Citizen, seeks a Production Supervisor for the 2nd shift to lead the production team in gummies and related products. You will ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while meeting daily schedules.

You will coach team members, coordinate with the Production Manager, and maintain accurate documentation and shift handoffs to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About This Role

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the 2nd shift production team in the safe, compliant, efficient, and timely production of marijuana-infused gummies and other cannabis products. This role provides hands-on leadership on the production floor, ensuring the team meets daily production schedules, quality standards, compliance requirements, and key performance indicators.

The Production Supervisor will coordinate daily activities, assign work, monitor production performance, coach and develop Team Members, troubleshoot operational issues, and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately. This position serves as the primary point of contact for the Production Manager during 2nd shift and is responsible for providing a clear and accurate shift handoff.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Lead, direct, and support Production Team Members throughout the 2nd shift to ensure daily production goals and schedules are achieved.
  • Assign daily tasks and responsibilities based on production priorities, staffing levels, employee capabilities, and production schedules.
  • Monitor production throughout the shift to ensure products are prepared, medicated, packaged, labeled, and completed according to established standards.
  • Ensure all production activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company SOPs, batch records, production schedules, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all cannabis products are properly medicated and handled according to established procedures.
  • Ensure all labeling, packaging, and documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with company and State of Michigan requirements.
  • Monitor team performance against established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), production targets, quality standards, and productivity expectations.
  • Identify production delays, quality concerns, equipment issues, staffing challenges, and other barriers to meeting production goals and elevate as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the Production Manager and other departments to resolve operational issues and maintain production flow.
  • Conduct routine floor checks to ensure GMP, sanitation, safety, organization, and quality standards are being maintained.
  • Ensure Team Members follow all GMP and Quality Assurance processes within the facility.
  • Ensure department SOPs, batch records, production logs, inventory records, and associated forms are completed accurately and on time.
  • Review production documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting it to the Production Manager or designated department.
  • Monitor raw material and packaging inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the Production Manager or appropriate department.
  • Coordinate with inventory and other production teams to ensure materials are available for scheduled production.
  • Support equipment operation and troubleshooting and elevate equipment or maintenance concerns as needed.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and production areas throughout the shift.
  • Lead and support end-of-shift cleaning and reset activities to ensure the facility is prepared for the next shift.
  • Train, coach, and provide ongoing guidance to Production Team Members on processes, equipment, SOPs, safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new Team Members and ensure employees are properly trained before performing assigned tasks independently.
  • Address performance, attendance, safety, quality, and behavioral concerns in a timely and professional manner and elevate issues when appropriate.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative team environment focused on safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Recognize opportunities to improve production processes, reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance team performance.
  • Ensure all safety concerns, incidents, and near misses are reported and addressed according to company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate shift notes and communicate production status, staffing concerns, quality issues, equipment problems, and other important information during shift handoff.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Production during 2nd shift and communicate significant issues to the Production Manager in a timely manner.
  • Assist with production, packaging, labeling, and other hands-on duties as needed to support production demands.
  • Maintain relevant training and knowledge as new products, processes, equipment, and systems are introduced.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
The Experience You Bring and the Skills we Need:
  • Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, food production, cannabis production, or similar regulated environment.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, lead, or training experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, equipment, sanitation, inventory, and quality control.
  • Understanding of GMP, SOPs, quality standards, and documentation requirements preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify quality, safety, and compliance issues.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively manage changing production demands.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Team Members, leadership, and cross‑functional partners.
  • Ability to coach, train, and hold employees accountable in a fair and professional manner.
  • Ability to monitor production performance and use data or KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions while knowing when to elevate issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • This is a dynamic team, and as such daily tasks may vary, resulting in a fast paced and lively work environment.
    • Regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time.
    • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
    • Reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
    • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift .
    • Frequently lift and/or move up to 5 0 pounds.
    • Comfortable working in a greenhouse environment (tolerance of heat & humidity) .
