Overview

At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. The Maritime Capability (MARCAP) is a new skywave over the horizon radar system dedicated to maritime and ground wide area surveillance. MARCAP incorporates system architecture features which deliver a new level of non‑queued low velocity target detection sensitivity and wide area semi‑autonomous surveillance. MARCAP incorporates and helps to greatly expand the maritime sensitivity and surveillance of over‑the‑horizon radar. The key technology features include low phase noise high power amplifier hardware, wideband arbitrary high spectral purity digital waveform generators, wideband multifunction direct digital receivers, advanced space‑time adaptive signal processing, stare mode operation, and low threshold track‑before‑detect tracking algorithms. MARCAP will be the first of its kind as a skywave over‑the‑horizon radar dedicated to maritime and ground surveillance.

Responsibilities
  • Perform systems level operation and monitoring of ROTHR/MARCAP receiver site equipment. Perform organizational, preventative and intermediate level maintenance on ROTHR receiver site and communications equipment, including phased array antennas, RF hardware, digital hardware, microprocessors, minicomputers, PC farms and peripheral equipment.
  • Use comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents and applying knowledge of circuit interrelationships, planning work sequence, selecting and using appropriate resources and test equipment.
  • Collaborate frequently with engineering and other professionals within the ROTHR/MARCAP program during testing, data collection and system evolutions. Support assistance by applying methods outlined by others, constructing experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements, conducting tests or experiments, redesigning as necessary, and recording, evaluating and reporting data and findings. Participate in training provided by outside technical or engineering personnel.
  • Receive technical guidance and tasking from supervisor or higher‑level technician; work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. Perform all other related duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., G.E.D.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Graduate in Electronic or Electrical Engineering Technology from a technical institute with at least two years of curriculum or Military Technical School with a minimum six‑month curriculum.
  • Experience using test equipment and systematic procedures for troubleshooting, overhaul, fault isolation and repair of major electronic systems comprised of receiver and transmitter functions.
  • Clean motor‑vehicle driving record to obtain authorization to drive company vehicles.
  • Subject to government security investigation; must meet eligibility for U.S. Government‑issued DoD Secret clearance and be U.S. citizen. The candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government‑issued DoD Secret clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • At least one year of technician experience in assembly, overhaul, repair, modification, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of communications, radar or digital electronics systems of the same complexity and magnitude as ROTHR.
  • Previous or current security clearance.
What We Offer
  • Values‑driven culture focused on safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration and innovation.
  • No relocation provided for this position.
