Job summary

North Maine Maple, Inc. in Skowhegan, ME is seeking a seasonal farmworker to assist on a maple sap operation. The role involves harvesting sap, tending tubing, tapping trees, and maintaining equipment in outdoor, wintery conditions.

You’ll walk long distances, work 57 hours per week from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and collaborate with farm owners to ensure a smooth sap collection. Prior farm work is preferred, with robust physical endurance required.

Responsibilities

• Harvest maple sap on a seasonal, full-time basis in northern Maine.
• Clear brush and install, replace, maintain and remove tubing systems.
• Tap maple trees and monitor health for potential sap production.
• Walk extensively and work in cold winter conditions; use and store equipment.

Job Duties:Seasonal, full time job in a remote area of Northern Maine working on a maple sap farm performing duties related to harvesting maple sap. All tools and equipment necessary will be provided by the farm owners. Workers will clear brush, install, replace, maintain and remove tubing systems, tap maple trees, evaluate the health of sugar maples for potential sap production, monitor sap flow levels in tubing, pull taps at the end of the season and clean and store equipment. This is outdoor work performed in part during harsh winter temperatures and conditions, and includes extensive walking and frequent stooping.
