Manufacturing Weld Engineer - 3rd Shift

Location: Dubuque, IA

Duration: Long term contract (W2)

Pay: $39.00

Major Purpose

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting production, improving processes, and ensuring high‑quality welded components on the shop floor. You'll troubleshoot issues directly with operators, help improve tooling and workflow, and collaborate with cross‑functional partners to keep operations running smoothly. This entry‑level role offers hands‑on responsibility, strong learning opportunities, and the chance to make an immediate impact—especially on 3rd shift, where independent problem‑solving is essential.

What You'll Do
  • Support day‑to‑day production by helping operators troubleshoot welding and mechanical issues.
  • Identify and resolve process concerns, help drive improvements, and document opportunities for optimization.
  • Ensure the correct tooling is available and functioning properly.
  • Address nonconformance issues and partner with quality teams to resolve them.
  • Participate in engineering activities such as feasibility testing, validation, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in developing or updating engineering standards, specifications, and documentation.
  • Conduct inspections (under guidance) to evaluate quality and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors as needed.
  • Support product development efforts using established systems and processes.
  • Work independently on 3rd shift with limited on‑site engineering support.
  • Continue developing your engineering skills through training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
What We're Looking For
Required
  • Welding experience within your manufacturing engineering background
  • Experience with quality and process improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in:
    • Manufacturing Engineering

OR

  • Mechanical Engineering

OR

  • Quality Engineering
  • 1‑2 years of experience, including internships
  • Ability to work independently on 3rd shift
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, especially in welding
Preferred
  • Experience with robotic programming (not required)
  • Engineering design, manufacturing processes, and technical operations support
  • Requirements analysis and engineering specification
  • Testing and validation
  • Project scheduling and implementation support
  • Health & safety awareness
  • Problem‑solving, reporting, and risk management
  • Costing and budgeting awareness
