Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a leader to head the Manufacturing Test team, overseeing validation of high-volume energy products. You will drive cross-functional collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to ensure robust testing and design-for-test initiatives.

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling—keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017,we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

As the lead of the Manufacturing Test team, you will manage a growing team of interdisciplinary engineers to support high-volume complex validation of energy products at Redwood Materials. Your role will include cultivating cross-functional collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering domains to ensure robust product validation. You'll influence design-for-test initiatives and define team scope as it evolves.

Responsibilities will include:

• Lead/support design, bring-up, and validation of PCBA and TLA/EOL functional testers
• Coordinate timelines, budgets, and company priorities across stakeholders (Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Design)
• Collaborate with system integrators, contract manufacturers, and equipment vendors to implement and qualify test stations
• Lead/support debug of manufacturing test failures, working cross-functionally to resolve issues
• Drive continuous improvement of test processes, including coverage expansion, cycle-time reduction, parallelization opportunities, power & cooling efficiency optimization, station reliability, and data quality.
• Ensure manufacturing test readiness for new product introduction, including test specifications, validation plans, GR&R studies, station acceptance, and product release criteria.
• Help establish scalable standards and best practices for the team's development across Redwood's rapidly growing product portfolio

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience
• 2+ years of people management experience
• Comfortable with industrial automation, PLC, and test automation
• Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing and design-for-test best practices
• Demonstrated ability to read, create, and review electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Experience working with high-voltage systems (400–2000VDC and 480-800VAC)
• Strong hands-on debugging skills, with comfort working across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software)
• Experience with test equipment including DAQs, power supplies, sensors, etc.

In accordance with California pay transparency laws, the salary range for this position is listed below. Actual compensation may vary based on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and skills.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
