Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to join a cross-functional engineering team. You will develop and maintain tools, fixtures, and software that automate testing of industrial electronics, supporting internal and external facilities to improve quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3 to 6 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented with commitment to quality and teamwork.
• Experience developing test software using C, C++, C#, Python, Bash, NI TestStand, LabVIEW or similar tools.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and RTOS such as QNX or FreeRTOS.
• Knowledge of electronic circuits and hands-on experience with diagnostic equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes).

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of test requirements, specifications, project plans, and engineering docs.
• Design and develop production test software, scripts, and fixtures to validate hardware.
• Create and maintain test procedures and fixture documentation.
• Review designs for completeness, accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
• Investigate product failures and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with suppliers to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Train manufacturing personnel on new test processes and equipment.

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will collaborate with a cross-functional engineering team to develop and maintain tools, fixtures, and software that automate the testing of industrial electronics products. You will support both internal and external manufacturing and repair facilities, helping ensure product quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.

How will you make a difference?

• Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Lean, and Manufacturing Support teams to develop strategies, align resources, and drive execution.
• Research, define, design, analyze, and validate production test solutions for new products.
• Design, develop, and maintain test fixtures, tools, and software used for board-level and system-level manufacturing testing.
• Create and maintain production support documentation, including test procedures and fixture documentation.
• Develop and maintain expertise in relevant company and industry standards related to electronics verification and validation.
• Support initiatives that drive standardization and continuous improvement across manufacturing test platforms.

• Experience working with Linux or Unix-based operating systems, including real-time operating systems such as QNX or FreeRTOS.
• Knowledge of electronic circuits and hands-on experience using diagnostic equipment, including digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, and other electronic test instruments.

• Assist in the development of test requirements, specifications, project plans, and engineering documentation.
• Design and develop production test software, scripts, and fixtures to validate manufacturing hardware.
• Create and maintain production support documentation, including test procedures and fixture documentation.
• Review engineering designs for completeness, accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with technical requirements.
• Investigate product failures and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Train manufacturing personnel on new or updated test processes, equipment, and procedures.

The salary rate for this role is currently $68900-98200 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
