Job summary

Corning is seeking a Manufacturing Technology Manager in Phoenix to provide technical leadership for manufacturing operations. You will lead Process and Equipment Technicians, coordinate with Operations and Engineering, and drive safe, stable, and efficient production.

Qualifications include 10+ years in manufacturing, 8+ years in leadership, and strong Lean/Six Sigma experience. This role emphasizes training, standard procedures, and continuous improvement across high-volume automated processes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of total experience in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, or technical operations.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience in high-volume automated manufacturing operations is highly preferred.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement and technical problem-solving initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for technical, process, and equipment issues; lead root cause investigations and drive implementation of corrective and preventive actions to sustain safe and stable operations
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to support production readiness for new technologies, equipment, and process improvements; ensure engineering solutions are effectively standardized and sustained on the manufacturing floor
  • Lead, coach, and develop teams of Process and Equipment Technicians — managing staffing, development plans, and technical alignment to operational priorities
  • Own technical training strategy, documentation, and standard operating procedures across manufacturing areas; monitor and continuously improve training effectiveness
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, throughput, downtime reduction, and cost performance; promoting a data-driven, safety-first culture

Role Purpose

The Manufacturing Technology Manager is responsible for providing direct technical leadership and execution for the department’s manufacturing operations. This role leads the Process Technician and Equipment Technician organizations and serves as the primary liaison between Operations and Engineering to ensure safe, stable, and efficient manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of total experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, or technical operations.
  • Minimum 8 years of leadership experience managing technical teams.
  • Experience in supporting high-volume automated manufacturing operations is highly preferred.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement and technical problem-solving initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment systems, and operational performance drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance organizations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience implementing technical training and workforce development programs.
  • Strong project management and execution capabilities.

The range for this position is$106,400.00-$146,300.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
