Job summary

Klein Tools is seeking a Manufacturing Technician III in the United States with extensive CNC milling and grinding experience. You will set up, operate, monitor, and adjust semi-automated equipment, troubleshoot issues, read blueprints, perform tooling changes, and maintain quality logs.

Overtime may be required, and training to obtain crane certification could be offered. You will contribute to lean initiatives, document downtime and production metrics, and collaborate with cross-functional

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, and seven (7) years of related experience is required.
  • CNC certification or metalworking/tooling certification preferred.
  • Knowledge in operating CNC, milling, or grinding machines preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic math and computer skills and perform visual quality inspections.
  • Ability to learn, problem-solve, and make decisions per work instructions and documents.
  • Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
  • Ability to obtain a Klein provided crane certification may be required.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed by the company is required.

Responsibilities

  • Run production jobs on multi-axis CNC milling/grinding/lathe or other semi- automated equipment per instructions to produce quality parts.
  • Inspect product for quality using caliper, micrometer, gauges, and logs.
  • Read work orders and blueprints to verify specifications and BOM accuracy.
  • Perform offsets and adjustments to tool path and machine feeds to meet specs.
  • Troubleshoot major machine issues and replace worn tooling as needed.
  • Set up machines by changing fixtures, tooling, and loading programs.
  • Perform general machine maintenance including checking oil and coolant levels.
  • Record production counts, scrap, and labor hours; follow 6S lean practices.
  • Cross-train by rotating to different machines and work areas.
  • Report any other duties as assigned.

The Manufacturing Technician III is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and adjusting multi-axis CNC milling/grinding/lathe other various types of semi-automated equipment depending on assigned area. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting the machine when necessary, which involves diagnosing breakdowns, disassembling equipment, and replacing defective machine components.

  • Run production jobs on multi-axis CNC milling/grinding/lathe or other various types of semi-automated equipment per written or verbal work instructions to produce quality parts while maintaining productivity standards.
  • Inspect product for quality throughout production run using a variety of measuring tools such as a caliper, micrometer, comparator, a variety of gauges, etc., record inspection findings, and write detailed downtime and other shift communications in a log book.
  • Read work orders and blueprints to identify appropriate specifications for machine setup and product quality. Review work orders to ensure bill of materials are accurate and all inventory transactions are performed correctly.
  • Perform offsets to the program and adjustments to the machine feed, speed, and axis points to ensure part specification and quality standards are maintained as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot major machine issues through specialized knowledge/experience with the machine by diagnosing breakdowns, disassembling equipment, and replacing, resetting, and sharpening machine tooling as necessary depending on assigned area.
  • Perform machine set ups including, but not limited to, changing fixtures, inserts, tooling bars, dies, and selecting and loading the program.
  • Perform general machine maintenance such as cleaning the machine, checking oil and coolant levels, and adding additional oil and coolant as necessary.
  • Report accurate count of production parts, scrap, and labor hours by completing required paperwork and/or electronic entry.
  • Comply with established 6S standards and participate in various lean manufacturing activities to improve products, reduce waste, or learn new skills or operations.
  • Cross-train by rotating to different machines and work areas as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Demand Requirements
