Job summary

Boston Scientific is seeking a Manufacturing Technician II for the NSM business unit on 2nd shift (1:30 pm – 9:30 pm) in Maple Grove, MN. The role focuses on maintaining safety, quality, delivery, and cost through hands-on floor work, maintenance, and collaboration with Manufacturing Engineers.

Your work involves equipment setup, troubleshooting, and supporting process improvements, with a strong emphasis on Lean practices and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • 2 years with high school diploma or equivalent experience, training or apprenticeships.

Responsibilities

  • Observes and complies with all safety rules and regulations (QSR/ISO).
  • Use mechanical, electrical, control, and pneumatic knowledge to troubleshoot equipment and processes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot downtime and process issues to minimize delays.
  • Implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Perform equipment setup, preventive, corrective, and calibration maintenance.
  • Support equipment startups/shutdowns and may work late to ensure safe state.
  • Install and validate equipment and processes to improve yield or reduce cycle time.
  • Modify tooling and fixtures as needed and evaluate new equipment.
  • Adhere to quality requirements and our Quality Policy; raise issues promptly.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and participate in VIP and cost improvements.
  • Train and provide technical support to product builders and technicians.
  • Understand flex strategy, rotate as needed, collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Participate in Shared Responsibility and continuous improvement teams.
  • Follow all Boston Scientific policies and complete required training.

About the role:

As a Manufacturing Technician II, you areresponsible for performing functions associated with all manufacturing operations in daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment in order to achieve production goals (i.e.,safety,quality, delivery,andcost).Daily tasks include responding to equipmentdowntimesissueson the production floor, performing routine preventative maintenance on production equipment, and supporting Manufacturing Engineers (ME) in value improvement projects.Most of your time is spent on the production floor, working on equipment, and engaging with our Medical Device Specialists (i.e.MDS operators).

With General Supervision, you will work on2ndshift as part of a technician team in the Nitinol Shape Memory (NSM) business unit. NSM2ndshift runsMonday-Fridayfrom1:30pm to9:30pm.

Mandatory Weekend OT is requiredon a rotation recurring basis. Current OT requirement is minimum once (Saturday and Sunday) every 4 weeks.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Observes andcomplies withall safety rules and regulations.This includes QSR and ISO Standards.
  • Apply mechanical,electrical,control, andpneumaticknowledge to troubleshoot and solve equipment and process problems forvariousautomated equipment.
  • Identifyand troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize downtime
  • Identifiesand implements corrective actions for manufacturing related issues.
  • Performs equipment setup and corrective, preventive,and calibrationmaintenanceas necessary.
  • Supportequipment startups andshutdowns,which may include staying late to make sure equipment is in a safestate.
  • Installs andvalidatesequipment and processes in the production area to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time following the established validation procedure.
  • Modify existing and develop new tooling and fixtures
  • Evaluates and orders necessary equipment,toolsand fixtures
  • Responsible for quality andadheringto manufacturing process requirements, the Boston Scientific Corporation Quality Policy and the Strategic Quality Process (SQP). Proactively communicates quality issues and concerns.
  • Understands and applies a solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing and related principles.
  • Assistin Value Improvement (VIP)andimplementing new equipment or processes or improving existing ones for cost savings
  • Train and provide technical support or direction to product builders and other technicians
  • Understands and applies flex strategy, rotates as necessary and works well with all group members, both within the team and cross-functionally.
  • Activelyparticipatesin Shared Responsibility and continuous improvement teams.
  • Understands,followsand promotes all BSC and site-specific policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for attending and passing all core required BSC and site-specific training (i.e.QS Basics, RTK, Lean Training)
Required qualifications:
  • 2 Years with High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience, training , or apprenticeships
Preferred qualifications:
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and effective troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing or technical environment.
  • Proven reliability with a strong attendance record and consistent work ethic.
  • Proactive communicator and team player whoseeksopportunities to improve processes and resolve issues collaboratively.
