  • 1+ years of GMP manufacturing experience.
  • Experience documenting batch records and SOP adherence.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 40 pounds in a GMP environment.

Responsibilities

  • Organize equipment layout and workflows for safe operations.

About Site

Catalent’s San Diego, CA site is an early‑phase development facility supporting small‑molecule and peptide programs from preformulation through cGMP clinical manufacturing for oral and injectable dosage forms. The 68,000‑square‑foot site is a center of excellence for spray‑drying and bioavailability‑enhancement technologies, with integrated capabilities to advance challenging compounds rapidly into the clinic.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Technician II to join our team. In this role, you will conduct GMP manufacturing of solid oral and liquid oral pharmaceutical dosage forms for Phase I and Phase II clinical trials. You will work with precision, ensuring compliance with SOPs and accurate documentation. This position offers the chance to contribute to critical clinical programs in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Shift: Monday - Friday 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Location: San Diego, CA

The Role
  • Manufacture GMP products, follow Standard Operating Procedures, and maintain accurate production batch records.
  • Provide guidance and training for junior operators.
  • Organize equipment layout and workflows for efficient and safe operations.
  • Independently assemble, operate, and disassemble all basic equipment.
  • Operate automated or semi-automated equipment.
  • Prepare materials and equipment for production.
  • Escalate production issues to engineering and production coordinators.
  • Support equipment turnover, cleaning verification, and validation activities.
  • Show strong initiative on the production floor by preparing equipment for upcoming processes and understanding overall equipment flow.
  • Write production comments independently and elevate production-related issues to management, engineering, and coordinator groups as needed.
The Candidate
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
  • 1+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing, with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) experience required.
  • On an average 8-hour day, ability to walk, sit, stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms at or above shoulder height and below waist height, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear, smell, and lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision requirements include reading written documents, visual inspection of materials, and frequent use of a computer monitor screen.
Preferred Skills & Background
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude or prior work experience within a regulated environment preferred.
Pay

The anticipated hourly rate for this position in CA is $49,000 – $53,000. The final hourly rate offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
