Job summary

Daniel Defense in Georgia is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 1 to operate CNC machinery, perform inspections, and provide production support under direct supervision. You will load/unload materials, monitor machines for issues, and help maintain tooling and equipment while ensuring quality and safety standards.

As part of the Manufacturing Division, you will participate in daily toolbox meetings, document travelers and inspection sheets, and contribute to 6S, delivery, and productivity

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years CNC experience or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass basic skills assessment in Mathematics, Metrology, Blueprint Reading, and Operator Work Instructions.
  • Knowledge of concepts and procedures in the field.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to work in a team and cooperate with others.
  • Willingness to learn new process techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and good record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machinery in designated area at an acceptable production level.
  • Load and unload raw materials safely per work instructions.
  • Monitor machines for unusual sounds or vibrations and report concerns.
  • Inspect finished parts using micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.
  • Maintain machines, tooling, and fixtures; keep area clean and organized.
  • Record production quantities and times accurately in designated systems.
  • Participate in safety and quality toolbox meetings daily.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts (6S, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity).

Manufacturing Technician 1

Department: Manufacturing Division: Operations

As a Manufacturing Technician 1, you will be responsible for the functions outlined below, operating CNC machinery and performing inspection and production support functions under direct supervision.

Essential Functions
  • Conform to and operate within the framework of all applicable operator work instructions, SOPs, quality and safety procedures, and any items deemed necessary by your supervisor or leadership.
  • Operate varying machinery in the designated area of responsibility (mill, lathe, gun drill, etc.) at an acceptable production level.
  • Properly and safely load and unload raw materials in CNC machinery in accordance with operator work instructions.
  • Monitor machines for unusual sound or vibration and report concerns to supervision.
  • Remove finished product, deburr edges, and blend imperfections.
  • Assess tools and monitor for wear; notify appropriate personnel for replacement if needed.
  • Monitor, check, and test the quality of parts produced in accordance with inspection sheets and work instructions using micrometers, dial indicators, hard gauging, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Clean and maintain machines, tooling, and fixtures to keep equipment in optimal production condition.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping of the work area; keep machines, tools, equipment, and work surfaces free of oil, grease, and clutter.
  • Properly clock in and out of designated systems for time and attendance and production work orders; accurately record production quantities.
  • Detect and notify supervision of faulty machine operations, defective materials, and unusual conditions.
  • Properly follow and maintain documents such as travelers, inspection sheets, PM logs, and product non-conformance reports.
  • Work as a member of a team under direct supervision.
  • Demonstrate commitment to environmental health and safety principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings on safety and quality issues.
  • Participate in the company’s efforts to continuously improve Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.
  • Contribute to company standards for high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment, and a positive work environment.
  • Perform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Preferred: 1+ years of prior CNC experience or related experience and/or training in a manufacturing, production, and assembly environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to pass the basic skills assessment in Mathematics, Metrology, Blueprint Reading, and Operator Work Instructions.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform all job functions.
  • Ability to perform as part of a team and to cooperate and work proactively with others.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new process techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under deadlines and pressure.
  • May be required to work varying shifts as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and work in accordance with Company Values.
  • Employees may be assigned to other departments, functional groups, and/or shifts as deemed necessary by management.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, including working in and around machinery and exposure to noise, chemicals, lights/lasers, and similar conditions.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by the position and/or Company policy.
