Job summary

Heron Power is hiring a skilled manufacturing technician to drive engineering builds and early manufacturing scale-up of power electronics assemblies. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations and equipment teams to establish repeatable processes, track unit builds, and support product launch development while emphasizing safety, quality and reliability.

In this role you will contribute to the scaling of the production line, work with clear first principles, and help

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial assembly with hands-on rigging.
  • Forklift certification; onsite certification available for the right candidate.
  • Demonstrated overhead crane and hoist experience with loads above 500 lb.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, weldment prints, and BOMs.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools, torque wrenches, and layout/measuring tools.
  • Able to lift 50 lb, work from ladders, and stand for a full shift.
  • Clear communication and standard crane hand signals.

Responsibilities

  • Rig and move large fabricated enclosures, weldments, and sub-assemblies using a 2-ton overhead workstation crane, chain hoists, and a mobile gantry
  • Select, inspect, and rig hardware for each lift: web slings, shackles, eyebolts, and spreader beams; verify working load limits against load weight and sling angle before every pick
  • Identify center of gravity and pick points on large asymmetric assemblies; use tag lines and a spotter to control the load
  • Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift to receive, stage, and position cabinet frames, panels, and hardware
  • Build and square cabinet structures on rolling assembly fixtures: set panels, install turnbuckle braces, shim, and align to print
  • Torque structural fasteners to spec, verify squareness and flatness, and document before handoff to the next station
  • Perform daily pre-use inspection on slings, hooks, hoists, and forklift; tag out and remove damaged gear from service
  • Work from mechanical drawings, weldment prints, and BOMs; redline and feed back errors so the instructions improve
  • Help build assembly fixtures, carts, and lift aids as we scale the line
  • Keep rigging gear staged, inspected, and organized

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled manufacturing technician to drive engineering builds, and early manufacturing scale-up of complex power electronics assemblies. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations and equipment teams to establish repeatable processes, execute and track unit builds, and support product launch development through all phases of the engineering lifecycle. Your technical and timely feedback to the engineering team is pivotal to drive product improvements and advancements with specific attention to safety, quality and reliability. This role is versatile in nature and welcomes innovative, outside-of-the-box thinking to drive excellence in our products.

How You Will Contribute

What You Will Bring

Must Have Requirements
  • 3+ years in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial assembly with hands-on rigging as a regular part of the job
  • Forklift certification; we can certify onsite for the right candidate
  • Demonstrated overhead crane and hoist experience with loads above 500 lb
  • Able to read mechanical drawings, weldment prints, and BOMs
  • Confident with hand and power tools, torque wrenches, and layout/measuring tools
  • Able to lift 50 lb, work from ladders, and stand for a full shift
  • Clear communication and standard crane hand signals
Nice to Haves
  • Qualified rigger training or NCCCO rigger certification
  • Experience with large sheet metal enclosures, switchgear, transformers, or shipping-frame builds
  • Scissor or boom lift certification
  • Welding or structural fabrication background
  • Worked somewhere the process was still being written, and improved it
