Job summary

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions, part of the Spirax Group, seeks a Manufacturing Technician for Aflex to fabricate and assemble PTFE hose assemblies used in pharmaceutical, industrial, and food-grade applications.

You will interpret work orders and specs, verify materials, perform precise builds, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high production quality. Strong mechanical aptitude and meticulousness are essential for on-site machining and continuous improvements.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical precision required in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, assembly specifications, and ensure materials and processes meet quality standards.
  • Proactive in identifying issues before they affect production or delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble PTFE hose assemblies per work orders, drawings, BOMs and customer specs.
  • Perform hose cutting, fitting prep, ferrule placement, crimping and final assembly tasks.
  • Execute hot-forming processes and specialized assembly techniques as needed.
  • Verify hose type, fitting compatibility and assembly requirements prior to build.
  • Use calipers, gauges and tapes to ensure accuracy and tolerances.
  • Follow approved crimp specs and manufacturing standards.
  • Perform in-process inspections to detect damage and non-conformities.
  • Support reduction of rework through meticulous process execution.
  • Collaborate with leadership and quality teams to identify root causes and drive improvements.
  • Operate hose cutting equipment, crimping machines and related tooling.
  • Support urgent customer requirements and maintain production priorities.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to ensure efficient flow.
  • Cross-train and support team flexibility on the line as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency.

Role Summary

As a Manufacturing Technician within Aflex, you will play a critical role in the fabrication, assembly, and production of highly configurable PTFE hose assemblies used across pharmaceutical, industrial, and food-grade applications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, technical precision, and the ability to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment where product variation, quality standards, and customer requirements are constantly evolving. Unlike standard assembly roles, the Aflex Manufacturing Technician is responsible for interpreting work orders, understanding assembly specifications, verifying materials, executing precision builds, and identifying issues before they impact production or customer delivery. This role requires a high level of ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot assembly challenges while maintaining production efficiency and quality.

The successful candidate will contribute directly to product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational success by producing high-quality hose assemblies, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating closely across multiple operational departments.

What you’ll be doing
  • Assemble PTFE hose assemblies according to work orders, engineering drawings, BOMs, and customer specifications.
  • Perform hose cutting, fitting preparation, ferrule placement, crimping, and final assembly operations
  • Execute hot-forming processes and specialized assembly techniques where required.
  • Verify proper hose type, fitting compatibility, and assembly requirements prior to build
  • Use measuring tools such as callipers, gauges, and measuring tapes to ensure build accuracy and tolerances.
  • Follow approved crimp specifications and manufacturing standards.

  • Support reduction of rework through strong attention to detail and proper process execution.
  • Work with leadership and quality teams to identify root causes and improve processes
  • Operate hose cutting equipment, crimping machines, assembly tooling, and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Support urgent customer requirements and production priorities.
  • Maintain work area organization and cleanliness to support efficient production flow.
  • Assist in cross-training and support team flexibility across the production line when needed.
