Job Summary

The Technical Specialist will support Acuity's Indiana Production Facility (IPF) and provide day‑to‑day support necessary for maintaining production and manufacturing efficiencies. The role involves working with Test Development Engineering to resolve end‑of‑line test software issues, validate new automated test systems, report hardware and software bugs, ensure resolution prior to production release, upgrade existing test systems, support production testing issues, and contribute to initiatives that improve quality, reduce cost, and increase throughput and efficiencies.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Essential Functions: 90%

  • Resolve production end‑of‑line test issues and, when needed, elevate complex problems to higher‑level or other support teams.
  • Maintain end‑of‑line test systems, install new PCs, update test software, and validate to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide production test support and troubleshoot test failures.
  • Support the Quality team’s initiatives, goals and objectives, ensuring products are tested correctly to prevent escapes to customers.
  • Troubleshoot and root cause production test system faults, deploy, test and validate improvements, and contribute to CAPA and 5‑Whys initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Test Development Engineering to validate and release new test systems into production.
  • Participate in continuous improvement events such as Kaizen and 5S.
  • Train test systems users in new hardware, software or best practices to improve technical literacy and efficiency.
  • Assist test systems users in resolving hardware, software or network issues.
  • Monitor performance of new testers deployed for new products, ensuring issues detected are mitigated without past‑due action or downtime.

Essential Functions: 10%

  • Support new product introduction and launch to production.
  • Work with local vendors and fab houses to create testing jigs to reduce cost.
  • Create LPM for new CI codes.
  • Assist in the creation, compilation and upload of luminary model codes for LPM creation.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
  • High school diploma plus relevant knowledge and experience or equivalent.
  • Key skills include good communication, problem‑solving and technical knowledge.
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in a relevant role (experience in manufacturing or electronics is a plus).
  • Knowledge or familiarity with automatic production tests for electronics.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field and 1–2 years of experience in a production facility.
  • Familiarity with production test equipment.
  • Continual improvement and team mindset, teachable and works well with others.

The range for this position is $41,600.00 to $74,900.00. Placement within this range may vary depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
