Responsibilities

  • Lead daily activities in a manufacturing setting.

  • Ensure materials, processes, and outputs meet defined quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other Supervisors to coordinate operations and resolve issues.
  • Train, coach, and observe employees on safety procedures and standard work.
  • Establish and monitor SQDC metrics.
  • Lead Kaizen and 3P events for continuous improvement.
  • Support lean culture and HR actions including hiring and performance management.
  • Mentor peers and developing leaders; supervise operations across units.

We are seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to support our weekend shift.

The weekend shift schedule is Friday through Sunday, 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional ad hoc meetings during the week.

How You Will Contribute

The Manufacturing Supervisor leads and coordinates the daily activities of production employees within an assigned business unit, with a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement, developing team capability, and ensuring operational plans are executed effectively to meet customer and business objectives.

How You'll Make a Difference
  • Enforce all safety regulations and proactively identify and mitigate safety hazards.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily production activities to meet established production targets.
  • Determine manpower requirements and allocate resources to support level-loaded production plans.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes to maximize uptime and productivity.
  • Ensure materials, processes, and outputs meet defined quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other Business Unit Supervisors to coordinate operations and resolve issues.
  • Train, coach, and observe employees to ensure adherence to safety procedures, standard work, and production expectations.
  • Establish, monitor, and communicate key performance metrics related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
  • Plan, lead, and execute Kaizen and 3P events to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support and sustain a lean manufacturing culture across the business unit.
  • Initiate and support Human Resources actions including hiring, training, performance management, discipline, and terminations.
  • Lead and support improvement initiatives both within the assigned business unit and across locations.
  • Mentor and coach peers and developing leaders.
  • Supervise operations across multiple business units as needed.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.
Lean Knowledge and Continuous Improvement Expectations
  • Actively support the Douglas Dynamics lean transformation through Kaizen, 3P, Daily Continuous Improvement, and 6S activities.
  • Establish and maintain current-state standard work and identify future-state improvement opportunities using cycle time observations, loading diagrams, and machine/cell capacity analysis.
  • Implement and sustain SQDC programs and visual management systems.
  • Maintain and utilize MDI SQDC tracking boards to prioritize improvement activities.
  • Execute continuous improvement initiatives aligned with SQDC objectives.
  • Conduct timely, effective performance reviews to support individual development and continuous improvement in alignment with company policies.

Education / Experience
  • Associate degree (technical) or 4+ years of military training (including leadership training), or equivalent supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience And Skills
  • Prior experience supervising or leading employees in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven lean manufacturing knowledge, including Kaizen, 3P, Standard Work, MDI, problem solving, and waste elimination.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and influence teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard business systems.
