Job summary

Abbott's Portland, OR facility is seeking a highly capable Manufacturing Supervisor for 2nd shift (2:30pm–1:00am) to drive production performance by engaging staff, using hands-on communication, and applying problem-solving and performance management to build a high-performing team.

You will lead a team of operators and technicians, manage day-to-day shift operations, ensure quality with standard work, monitor metrics, and drive continuous improvement while coaching and developing staff.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience in a multi-product manufacturing environment.
  • Strong supervisor skills, with demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop employees.
  • Effective communication (verbal written), interpersonal, and motivational skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and hold production team accountable for results.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of manufacturing operators and production technicians (incl. full-time and contingent staff).
  • Manage day-to-day operations for the production shift, including labor and material flow, production scheduling, line support, and change management.
  • Ensure the desired product quality levels are achieved through use of standard work and training to those standards, training in operation and inspection techniques, and use of tools/data.
  • Monitor performance metrics and visual management systems to drive accountability and continuous improvement with production staff.
  • Lead cost reduction and operational performance initiatives to improve efficiency, throughput, and overall manufacturing performance to achieve daily and long-term targets.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, skilled workforce; provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.

The base pay for this position is $61,300.00 – $122,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
