Job description

Position Title

Manufacturing Supervisor – Huntsville, AL

Job Purpose

Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Manages the activities of the team and is responsible for staffing decisions, training and development, and performance management of the staff. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations regarding capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Nature of Duties
  • Hands‑on supervisory role, providing assistance to the Manufacturing Manager and acting as a technical subject‑matter expert for the work cell. Direct job assignments and provide technical hands‑on leadership to the production staff.
  • Supervise and assist in training of production processes. Provide training, guidance and coaching to employees consistently and constructively.
  • Communicate shift activity to personnel and keep them informed of changes to equipment, processes and materials/supplies.
  • Monitor the efficiency and quality of all production jobs. Review cell goals daily and identify root cause when goals are not met; report findings.
  • Work closely with peers to develop good team‑working relationships and cross‑shift team relationships.
  • Prepare product shipments, including review of internal material travelers and related documents prior to authorization of shipments.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and communicate information to senior management.
  • Manage employee conduct or performance problems consistently with SCI policies. Refer to Human Resources for advice and consultation as needed.
  • Work with Quality to implement and monitor quality awareness and improvement programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment; possess interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience in an electronic production environment (SMT experience recommended).
  • Manufacturing experience (electronic and/or mechanical) of at least 5 years.
  • Minimum High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree in a related field recommended.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
