Job summary

Protolabs is seeking a Manufacturing Solvent Specialist to transform additive manufactured parts from print to production-ready items through precise cleaning and preparation. You will manage chemical solutions, remove supports, and maintain a resin-free workspace while adhering to Solvent Lab standards.

You will verify order quantities, identify quality issues, and support a safe, efficient finishing operation in a fast-paced team setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to focus on one task for extended periods.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with effective communication.
• Must follow safety and quality policies and use PPE as required.
• Able to use measuring instruments such as scales and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Safe cleaning and removal of resin on additive manufactured parts of varied sizes.
• Follow Solvent Lab processes to clean, cure and prepare parts for the Finishing team, including handling platforms and removal of supports.
• Maintain a resin-free work environment by cleaning the Lab and disposing of waste properly.
• Count parts and verify order quantities against specifications.
• Report issues of part quantity or quality to supervisors or leads.
• Enter order information into the computer workstation and assist with tool/machinery maintenance.
• Maintain a safe workspace and follow safety and quality policies.

Manufacturing Solvent Specialist!

Shift: Sunday - Wednesday (Su 8am-6pm, M-W 9am-7pm)

The Manufacturing Solvent Specialist is responsible for transforming additive manufactured parts from print to production-ready products through precise cleaning and preparation processes. This role safely manages chemical solutions, removes support structures, and maintains a clean, resin-free workspace while adhering to Solvent Lab standards. As a key contributor to quality and operational excellence, the Solvent Specialist verifies order quantities, identifies potential quality issues, and champions workplace safety and organization.

What You Will Do:

• Safe cleaning and removal of resin on additive manufactured parts of varied sizes.
• Follow all Solvent Lab processes and procedures to clean, cure and prepare parts for the Finishing team, including: submerging platforms weighing up to 50lbs in/out of chemical solutions, spraying parts with water and/or air hose, removal of parts from platforms, and removal of support structures from parts using tools or hands.
• Maintain a resin-free work environment outside of the Solvent Lab by thoroughly and regularly cleaning the Lab including the floors, mats, workstations, equipment, and tools, and by properly disposing of waste and removing worn equipment when exiting the Lab.
• Count parts and verify order quantities. Ensure order quantities and customer specifications have been met.
• Report issues of part quantity or quality to the Senior Solvent Specialist, Lead, Quality Inspector, or Supervisor.
• Use of computer workstation to review order and part information, and to enter related information regarding the order.
• Assist in the removal and disposal of contaminated materials.
• Clean and assist in maintaining any machinery/tools.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and individual workspace and assist in general cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
• Observe and follow all Protolabs Safety and Quality policies and procedures, including use of any required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed footwear, etc.) and safety/compliance training.

• Able to use measuring instruments such as scales and calipers.

$20.14 - $24.90 an hour
