Job summary

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with C#, .NET, and OO programming languages.
  • Experience with SQL Server, database design, and SQL queries.
  • Experience integrating PLCs, HMIs, robotics, barcode scanners, and industrial devices.
  • Proficient in industrial data communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA).
  • Familiar with MES/ERP/WMS systems and manufacturing data flows.
  • Experience using version control tools (Git, SVN, Azure DevOps).
  • Knowledge of audio testing equipment and DSP hardware.
  • Understanding of SPC, traceability, and production reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing software applications using modern languages and tools.
  • Build desktop, web, and service applications for production, QA, inventory, and equipment monitoring.
  • Integrate factory equipment with business applications and data systems.
  • Develop automated production tests and validate product functionality and acoustics.
  • Create and optimize SQL databases, stored procedures, queries, and reports.
  • Troubleshoot software, network, and production test issues on the shop floor.
  • Support traceability, genealogy, and process control systems.
  • Collaborate with production to drive automation and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain source control, documentation, and deployment processes.

SUMMARY:The Manufacturing Software Developer designs, develops, implements, and supports software applications that improve manufacturing operations, production efficiency, quality, and data collection. This position works closely with production, engineering, quality, maintenance, and IT teams to develop solutions that integrate manufacturing equipment, business systems, and industrial automation technologies. The ideal candidate has experience developing software for manufacturing environments and enjoys solving complex technical challenges while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing software applications using modern programming languages and development tools.
  • Develop desktop, web, and service applications that support production, quality assurance, inventory management, and equipment monitoring.
  • Integrate manufacturing equipment, PLCs, barcode scanners, torque controllers, audio test systems, vision systems, printers, and other industrial devices with business applications.
  • Develop automated production test applications for validating product functionality, including audio performance, electrical testing, and functional verification.
  • Develop and maintain software for audio testing, including communication with audio analyzers, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, and digital signal processing (DSP) equipment.
  • Design and optimize SQL databases, stored procedures, queries, and reports.
  • Troubleshoot software, network, communication, and production test issues affecting manufacturing operations.
  • Develop software that collects, stores, and analyzes production, quality, and test data.
  • Support manufacturing traceability, product genealogy, and process control systems.
  • Participate in software testing, validation, deployment, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with production personnel to identify opportunities for process automation and operational improvements.
  • Maintain software source control, version management, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing applications and assist with issue resolution during production.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that increase equipment reliability, productivity, and product quality.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:

    • Experience developing software using C#, .NET, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
    • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, database design, and SQL query development.
    • Experience integrating PLCs, HMI systems, robotic systems, barcode scanners, printers, torque controllers, and other industrial controllers.
    • Experience communicating with industrial equipment using Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, serial communications, or TCP/IP socket communications.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and warehouse management systems (WMS).
    • Experience using Git, TortoiseSVN, Azure DevOps, or other version control and project management tools.
    • Experience with audio testing and measurement equipment, including audio analyzers, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, signal generators, and data acquisition hardware.
    • Understanding of manufacturing quality systems, traceability, statistical process control (SPC), and production reporting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Occasionally required to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends, or to be available on call, to support production issues, system deployments, and equipment downtime.
