Job summary

Aviso, LLC is seeking a 3rd Shift Manufacturing Shift Manager to oversee nighttime rubber processing operations in San Jose, CA. The 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM shift requires strong leadership of a multilingual team, a firm safety mindset, and a drive for process improvement.

You will supervise production across mixing, extrusion, molding, curing and finishing, enforce HSE and LOTO, and coordinate with QA, Maintenance and Supply Chain to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Rubber Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on rubber manufacturing with supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of rubber compounding, curing, and molding processes (compression, injection, transfer).
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / AS9100 and production planning software / MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead 3rd-shift production and operations to maximize efficiency and on-time delivery.
• Mentor supervisors, technicians, and operators; enforce HSE, OSHA, and LOTO protocols.
• Coordinate bilingual communication across shift in English and Spanish.
• Collaborate with QA/R&D to drive process improvements and support new launches.
• Interface with Maintenance and Supply Chain for preventive care and planning.
• Manage shift budgets and pursue cost-saving technology upgrades.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Production & Operations Leadership: Supervise 3rd-shift operations to ensure high efficiency, minimal downtime, and on-time delivery across all processing stages (mixing, extrusion, molding, curing, and finishing).
• Team & Safety Management: Mentor and direct supervisors, technicians, and operators. Strictly enforce HSE regulations, OSHA guidelines, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols while conducting thorough incident investigations.
• Bilingual Communication: Lead, instruct, and align team members in both English and Spanish to ensure smooth shift operations.
• Continuous Improvement & Quality: Partner with QA and R&D to drive process improvements, support new product launches, and uphold quality standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100).
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with Maintenance on preventive machinery care and align with Supply Chain on material needs, inventory, and capacity planning.
• Cost & Tech Oversight: Manage shift budgets, execute cost-saving initiatives, and assess modern technology upgrades.

Qualifications & Experience

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Rubber Technology, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on rubber manufacturing experience with proven supervisory/managerial leadership.
• Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of rubber compounding, curing, and molding processes (compression, injection, transfer).
• Language: Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal communication).
• Quality Systems & Tech: Familiarity with ISO 9001/IATF 16949/AS9100 standards and proficiency in production planning software / MS Office.

Preferred Skills

• Prior background in automotive, aerospace, industrial, or specialty rubber manufacturing.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications.
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing ERP systems (e.g., SYSPRO, Oracle).

Work Environment & Schedule

• Shift Hours: 3rd Shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM). Note: No shift differential applies.
• Environment: Standard manufacturing plant environment with exposure to heavy machinery, heat, noise, and raw rubber materials.
• Flexibility: Occasional extended hours or weekend shifts may be required during peak production cycles.
