Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Technical Writer to support quality and process documentation for aerospace assemblies. You will act as the SME for technical writing and guide inspectors across shifts, while tracking performance and driving corrective actions.

The role requires an AS or BS in a related STEM field, with experience in manufacturing quality and strong written/verbal communication. U.S. citizenship is required. Excellent benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Interpret/revise written documentation/work instructions for consistency and repetition.
• Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Self-driven with high-quality results across a global team.
• Ability to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing and update them as needed.
• Generate NCRs, Inspection/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop strong knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements.
• Facilitate controls/solutions to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
• Contribute to a people-first culture aligned to Saab values.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned.
