Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking an experienced engineer to design manufacturing processes, production layouts, and procedures for assemblies, equipment installation, and material handling in Virginia.

You will adapt machine and workflow designs to factory conditions, define operation sequences, and ensure compliance with quality requirements and regulations while guiding engineering teams toward efficient, safe production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5 years of relevant exempt experience with Bachelor’s degree.
• Master’s Degree with 3 years of relevant experience; Ph.D. with 0 years.

Responsibilities

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
• Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
• Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
• May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
• Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify efficiency and initiates corrective actions to ensure product quality.
