Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. is seeking a manufacturing engineer to plan removals, review discrepancies, and generate detailed work instructions and BOMs for aerospace assembly.

The role requires cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Planning, Operations, and engineering teams to ensure configurations are controlled and processes are followed. Experience in Machining, Sheet Metal, or Systems and Structures is valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
• Experience with manufacturing engineering and aerospace knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide planning for Removals process and document steps for suspected conditions or rework.
• Review discrepancies and establish detailed planning steps for removal.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to develop optimal solutions.
• Define sequences of events, create work instructions, datasets, tooling requirements, and BOMs.
• Coordinate with Quality, Project Planning, Operations, and Liaison engineering to capture and implement requirements.
• Demonstrate configuration control of hardware within the manufacturing build plan.
• Apply process knowledge in Machining, Sheet Metal, Systems and Structures.

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide planning for Removals process. Removals are used to authorize and document steps taken to investigate a suspected condition or authorized rework, by removing previously installed and accepted parts or hardware, determining if additional actions are required.
• Ability to review discrepancies and determine steps needed for the removal process and establish detailed planning steps to accomplish the tasks.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional setting to come up with the optimal solution to the problem.
• Using the established manufacturing process flow, defines sequences of events, develops text and graphics work instructions, manufacturing datasets, tooling requirements, and manufacturing bills of material.
• Communicates with Quality, Project Planning, Operations, and Liaison engineering teams to ensure all requirements are captured, planned executed accordingly.
• Has the ability to demonstrate configuration control of the hardware, within the manufacturing build plan.
• Ability to apply process knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Machining, Sheet Metal, Systems and Structures.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• 3+ years of relevant Manufacturing experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

• Mid-Level (Level 3): 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree
• Engineering degree from an accredited university
• Experience with manufacturing engineering
• Previous Aerospace assembly knowledge
• SAP knowledge
• MES (DELMIA Apriso) knowledge
• Experience with CATIA programs

Summary Pay Range – Associate (Level 2): $59,950 – $91,950

Summary Pay Range – Mid-level (Level 3): $71,650 – $109,800
