Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking to train individuals with little or no machining background to become a Certified Operator. You will attend a 3‑week training program and 4–8 weeks of on‑the‑job training, learning to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, Lathes and VTCs for weldments and assemblies.

You will verify finished work with precision instruments, obtain operator certification, and work with engineers, QA and production staff to resolve technical issues while adhering to FAA safety

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to complete training and certification as a Pratt & Whitney operator.
• Ability to learn to read operation sheets and part travelers.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turrets or VTCs for routine production.
• Operate machines using sheets, travelers and instructions for grinding, turning, facing, boring and chamfering.
• Verify conformance of finished work with precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator certification to accept or reject parts.
• Maintain machines through Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM).
• Collaborate with engineers and QA to resolve machining problems and support part process development.

What You Will Do

• Second shift (Monday – Thursday, 3:30 pm – 1:30 am).
• Designed for individuals with little or no machining or grinding background to become a Certified Operator at Pratt & Whitney.

• Operate machines using operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS and oral instruction for grinding, turning, facing, boring, and chamfering operations.
• Verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator certification to accept or reject parts.
• Maintain machines through required Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM).
• Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, programmers, and other production personnel to resolve machining problems and assist in part process development.
• Minimum English language requirement: read, write, speak, and understand.

• 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, automotive or a related trade.
• Ability to perform computations involving decimals and fractions.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

Safety and Drug Testing

Role Type

Onsite: Employees who work in Onsite roles will primarily work on‑site, including production and maintenance workers essential to engine development. Commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
