Job summary

RTX is seeking a motivated individual for a 2nd shift operator trainee position in the Wells/US-ME area. The role includes a 3-week training followed by 4–8 weeks of on-the-job training to prepare you to operate NC milling/grinding machines and related equipment.

You will learn to read operation sheets and set up equipment, with language requirements in English. A High School diploma or GED is required, and some related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 0–1 years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience preferred.
• Ability to compute decimals and fractions.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• This is a 2nd Shift Opportunity. Monday - Thursday (4 - 10 hour shifts) 3:30pm-1:30am.
• Attain skills to become a Certified Operator at Pratt & Whitney.
• Attend a 3-week training program and 4–8 weeks of on-the-job training.
• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, VTCs and lathes for routine production operations.
• Read operation sheets, travelers, BOROPS, and oral instructions to set up equipment for grinding, turning, facing, boring and chamfering operations.
• Verify conformance of finished work using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to accept/reject parts.
• Maintain machines via total preventive maintenance (TPM).
• Collaborate with engineers, QA, programmers and other production personnel to resolve machining problems.

What You Will Do

• This is a 2nd Shift Opportunity. This is Monday - Thursday ( 4 -10 hour shifts) 3:30pm-1:30am
• This position is designed to give individuals with little or no machining or grinding background the skills they need to become a Certified Operator at Pratt & Whitney.
• Employees selected for this position will attend a 3-week training program and participate in 4-8 weeks of the on the job training.
• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTC’s to perform routine production operations on a variety of similar weldments and assemblies.
• Learn to work from operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS, and oral instruction to set up equipment for grinding, turning, facing, boring and/or chamfering operations involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.
• Learn to verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventive maintenance (TPM)
• Learn to work collaboratively with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel or others to resolve machining problems and assist in part process development.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
