Job description

Manufacturing Operations Manager (Production Manager)

manages all operations in a flexible packaging manufacturing environment. The Production Manager acts as the quarterback of the manufacturing team—leading, coordinating, and ensuring that all components of the production process are aligned, efficient, and adaptable to changes. This role is responsible for making real‑time decisions, solving problems on the fly, and communicating across departments to ensure a smooth and successful production operation. Flexible packaging industry experience preferred but not required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as the central figure in scheduling, leading, and motivating production staff, ensuring alignment with goals.
  • Ensure timely completion of orders while optimizing the use of resources. Adjust production plans based on urgency, changes in orders, and any unexpected delays or resource limitations.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop department team members, including preparing and conducting regular check‑ins (performance review and goal‑setting meetings), determining compensation changes, managing time and attendance, and addressing performance concerns as needed.
  • Foster a positive working environment, resolve interpersonal issues, and ensure team members are well‑trained, continuously developed, and have the resources needed to succeed and advance in their roles.
  • Conduct regular meetings with team, maintaining a collaborative and open environment for discussion with regular sharing of key information.
  • Partner with Human Resources partners to strategically identify hiring needs, evaluate candidates, and prepare job offers.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) relevant to the departments managed.
  • Determine current baseline departmental efficiencies and implement steps to monitor and improve through‑put, waste, and downtime.
  • Take a leadership role when it comes to quality, assisting with quality checks throughout the shift and signing off on job approvals. Assist Quality personnel, making quality‑related decisions and being responsible for all quality issues. Drive initiatives to improve quality.
  • Participate in the problem analysis determination and corrective action implementation of internal and external customer complaints.
  • Partner with Information Technology partners to ensure that enterprise resource planning (ERP) software is being effectively leveraged to record, manage, and analyze production, suggesting and working on reporting improvements.
  • Develop an in‑depth understanding of Eagle’s preventive maintenance program for each department and notify Maintenance in the event of any equipment problems or necessary repairs.
  • Ensure that good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are followed throughout team.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety regulations and guidelines. Encourage team members to prioritize safety and report any hazards, fostering an environment where safety is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify, communicate, and drive implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.
  • Partner with key personnel regarding any changes in business procedures and special projects.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school degree, equivalent (GED), or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience, including leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including proven ability to coach and motivate team members and address performance concerns.
  • Excellent critical thinking, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills with strong time management skills and ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Capacity to set priorities, goals, and timelines to achieve maximum productivity by demonstrating a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment.
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software with proven ability to learn complex new software programs.
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English, including ability to effectively communicate and partner with a diverse individuals.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to continuously stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to stoop and kneel frequently.
  • Must have excellent color vision and be able to detect color variations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Operations, Business, or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with proven ability to learn new software programs.
  • Experience in the flexible packaging and/or printing industries.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, ideally ePS Radius.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
Pay

$60,000 – $100,000 per year

  • Dental Insurance– On the first of month following 60 days of employment, employees can enroll in dental insurance provided by BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois.
  • Vision Insurance– On the first of month following 60 days of employment, employees can enroll this voluntary benefit through BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois.
  • 401K Plan– Plan entry date is the first of the month following 6 months of service. Eagle provides its employees with a 100% match up to 1% and 50% match up to 6%.
  • Company Paid Short Term Disability– The Short‑Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Company Paid Long Term Disability– The Long‑Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Life Insurance– The Basic Life premium is 100% paid by Eagle and is a flat $20,000 benefit for all FT, benefit eligible employees. Employees have the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for self, spouse, and dependent children.
  • Vacation/PTO –The amount of vacation/paid time off (PTO) employees receive each year starts at 80 hours (2 weeks) each year, which accrues at a rate of 1.538 hours per week, and increases with the length of employment.
  • 8 Company Paid Holidays– Eligible after 60 days of employment.
  • Sick Leave– Eligible for paid sick days at the rate of 3 days (24 hours) per year after 6 months of service (prorated for per the calendar year).
  • Tuition Reimbursement– Following 6 months of employment, employees are eligible for reimbursement for courses, certifications, and training programs that support their Eagle careers.
Part‑timeteam members are provided with the following benefits
  • Vacation/PTO – Eligible to earn 1 hour of vacation/PTO for every 40 hours worked up to a maximum of 40 hours of vacation/PTO.
  • 401K Plan – Plan entry date is the first of the month following 6 months of service. Eagle provides its employees with a 100% match up to 1% and 50% match up to 6%.
