Job summary

Corning is seeking an Operations & Engineering Manager to lead new manufacturing operations and the supporting engineering teams. You will be accountable for line performance, problem solving, readiness for pilot builds, validation, and scale-up readiness.

You will drive cross-functional collaboration across process development and technical functions to transfer knowledge, ensure equipment readiness, and establish standard work and training with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is required.
  • 10+ years of operations or engineering management experience in manufacturing.
  • Advanced degree preferred or required depending on role scope.
  • Experience launching, operating, or scaling pilot lines or new production lines.
  • Experience in optics, glass, or optical materials industries.
  • Experience with process transfer, new product introduction, validation, or scale-up.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, KPI management, standard work, and visual management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safe, stable, and effective operation of new manufacturing; integrate with engineering support.
  • Own performance across safety, quality, delivery, yield, throughput, uptime, cost, and schedule.
  • Establish operating systems: standard work, procedures, training, staffing, escalation, support.
  • Provide leadership for process performance, equipment reliability, troubleshooting, validation, and improvement.
  • Collaborate with Process Development to transfer process knowledge to operations.
  • Ensure readiness of equipment, tooling, materials, staffing, maintenance, and engineering resources.
  • Lead cross-functional issue resolution for complex operational challenges.
  • Interpret and execute policies for new manufacturing; suggest improvements for pilots.
  • Build and develop a capable manufacturing team delivering program objectives.
  • Communicate performance, risks, priorities, and learnings to leadership; support scale-up transfer.
