Job summary

Sunvair Aerospace Group in Owasso, OK seeks a Senior Shop Lead to oversee the daily operation of the designated shop and guide department personnel toward efficient workflow.

Qualifications

  • Requires minimum of 10 years of CNC programming, set-up and operation of CNC mills and lathes.
  • Leadership experience including motivating, rewarding and mentoring staff and performance management.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency, Valid Driver’s license.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally in an accurate and professional way. Written documents must be clear and concise.
  • Associate’s degree in manufacturing preferred.
  • Mastercam, SolidWorks or other CAD/CAM experience not required but is preferred.

Job description

The primary functions of this position, but not limited to, are to oversee the daily operation of the designated shop. The Lead will participate in the interviewing process, arrange required training, ensure that all company policies are followed, ensure all paperwork is correctly filled out and completed and provide guidance to department personnel which will ensure smooth workflow through the departments.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establishes goals and priorities for the department that works to meet the organization’s overall goals
  • Creates, reviews and updates CNC programs as necessary
  • Ensures continuous workflow through the department and identifies potential bottlenecks. Implement risk mitigation on all jobs
  • Schedules and manages workflow through the Manufacturing Machine Shop
  • Schedules and manages labor hours required to achieve production requirements
  • Ensures all jobs in queue are fully ready for production; all tools on hand, all material on hand and staged, all programs and all set‑up instructions are complete
  • Ensures compliance with organizational regulations, requirements and procedures
  • Ensures all required paperwork is properly filled out
  • Assists in development of new parts, processes and procedures
  • Assists with the development of cad models and the verification of cad models and programs
  • Provides leadership, motivation, mentoring, and performance management and monitoring and approving work hours for reports
  • Monitors training requirements for all personnel
  • Ensures department employees comply with all company requirements and are task qualified to meet Mingo Aerospace standards in policy, safety, security, and health.
  • Ensures team is focused on department goals and objectives.
  • Performs lean, standard work and continuous process improvements. Develops and implements initiatives designed to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Assists in creating and revising policies and/or procedures as needed.
  • Mentors, trains and coach’s new department employees.
  • Travel as required to meet company and customer requirements.
  • Ensures all areas are well organized and high housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Assesses quality of work and directs, leads and coaches employees.
  • Coaches in the use of tools, equipment, manuals, drawings and specifications to perform required tasks
  • Performs root cause analysis and corrective actions as required.
