The Opportunity: The Manufacturing Lead supports the supervisor with day to day understanding of machining operations and challenges. The Manufacturing Lead continues to set up and run production of special order/non-standard and standard cutting tool production, while offering support to other team members.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Manufacture production orders for several CNC grinders
  • Edit/maintain CNC tool and cutter grinding programs
  • Perform first piece article inspection for team members
  • Complete in-process inspection of manufactured product
  • Assist coworkers in keeping equipment running efficiently
  • Oversee all Safety aspects of equipment, facility and operations
  • Identify challenges in production capabilities, communicate and support implementation of root cause solutions, with support from supervision and engineering as applicable
  • Support point of use racking for upcoming production plan
  • Assist in maintaining on time delivery by following machine scheduling and inventory needs
  • Communicate when equipment is not working to OEM specifications
  • Drive Scrap and Rework reduction across all platforms to support quality goals
  • Support implementation of new machine technology and capabilities as well as ongoing capability studies on current equipment
  • Mentor new employees to ensure their training stays on track per the developed training plan
  • Assist in cross training of current team members across all machine platforms and tooling brands
  • Leads Employee Development activities to ensure skills and capabilities are aligned with business growth plans and that appropriate career progression opportunities are available
  • Instills a Continuous Improvement mindset and creates an engaging environment where all employees feel comfortable and encouraged to surface ideas, issues, suggestions, and problems

You’ll Bring:

  • Demonstrated skill in setup and operation of Walter/Star machines (Both preferred)
  • 3+ years of applicable work experience in a cutting tool manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience on Walter Tool Studio or Star Numroto programming
  • Knowledge of cutting tool geometries
  • Blueprint reading abilities
  • Ability to inspect, monitor and maintain quality
  • Competent in the use of measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow Engineering documented including but not limited to:
    • Geometry specification sheets
    • Product drawings
    • Job routers
    • Process sheets
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

The California pay range for this position is $25+ based on experience, qualifications plus commission.
