Job summary

Reading Truck is seeking a Manufacturing Launch Manager to plan, organize, and manage the Manufacturing Launch function for assembly and production processes. You will drive APQP compliance, lead VSM activities, collaborate across design, materials, safety, and quality, and ensure on-time project delivery while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires a technical bachelor's degree and 10+ years in manufacturing/engineering with 2+ years in manufacturing launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology required.
• 10+ years total experience in manufacturing or engineering in sheet metal fabrication; Automotive experience a plus.
• 2+ years in manufacturing launch; APQP experience a plus.
• Experience leading teams of engineers and support staff.
• Experience launching production of new or modified products; automated processes.
• Experience with DFM, DFA, PFMEA, CP and their applications preferred.
• Experience with Program/Project Management and Lean Manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day directions to Manufacturing Launch Management.
• Drive APQP compliance and ensure deliverables meet program timelines.
• Support PFEP & PPAP; produce management reports on KPIs and launch readiness.
• Lead VSM and Build Process activities; create visual indicators of operating conditions.
• Maintain records for production processes, equipment, tooling, gauges, jigs, and fixtures to optimize efficiency and quality.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Develop CAPEX requests for assembly and manufacturing projects.
• Design and analyze labor/space requirements and workflow to maximize efficiency and consistency.
• Collaborate with design, materials, supply chain, safety, quality, and production teams.
• Coordinate with vendors and sister units; participate in Gemba walks.
• Support lean initiatives by improving assembly/manufacturing processes for safety and productivity.
• Keep leadership updated on key project metrics and progress.
• Perform other duties as required; manage projects within budget and on time.
